Steering Priority
When the tractor is started, the PFC pump supplies oil to the Priority/ Regulator Valve at port (P). The flow is directed to the steering priority spool (1 Oa) which is moved down by its spring (diagram 1 ). This allows flow past the spool to the steering supply port (S) and also through an orifice to the lower end of the spool (1 Oa).
The steering control valve is a closed center type valve, so there is no flow through it until the steering wheel is rotated. With the steering in neutral, the pump supply pressure increases to 15 bar (220 psi) and moves the steering priority spool against its spring (diagram 2). In this position the pump flow is redirected past the spool to the passage (A) which is connected to the P1 pressure regulator spool and also to the optional trailer brake at port (TB).
The steering priority spool also allows a small flow to the steering supply port (S) to maintain the 15 bar (220 psi) pressure differential across the spool.
When the steering wheel is rotated, t he steering control valve spool directs the pump supply (P) to the steering cylinder (26) and also through the steering signal port (SP) into the signal circuit (SL) which increases pressure. This signal pressure is connected to the PFC pump compensator spool and also to the spring end of the steering priority spool.
