Frequently Asked Questions

What are the recommended service intervals?

The spark plug(s) should be cleaned and the gap reset once a season, with replacement recommended at the start of each mowing season. Lubricate the front axles with a grease gun after every 25 hours of tractor operation. All pivot points on the drive system, parking brake, and lift linkage should be lubricated at least once a season.

What fluids and capacities does this machine require?

The gasoline tank has a capacity of either two or three gallons. The tractor is shipped with motor oil in the engine, but you must check the oil level before operating. For specific quantity and proper weight of motor oil, refer to the separate engine manual packed with your unit.

How to troubleshoot engine won't start?

If the engine fails to start, ensure the PTO knob is in the disengaged (OFF) position and the parking brake is engaged. Check that spark plug wires are connected and the throttle lever is in the FAST position. If the fuel tank is empty or has stale fuel, fill it with clean, fresh gas (less than 30 days old).

What torque specifications are listed?

The blade spindle hex flange nut should be tightened to between 70 foot-pounds and 90 foot-pounds. Chute mounting screws require 50-100 IN-LB of torque. Other bolts on the deck may require 40-50 FT-LB, 130-230 IN-LB, or 400-480 IN-LB, as indicated in the diagrams.

How to reset error codes or warning lights?

If the Brake light or PTO light illuminates when attempting to start, depress the brake pedal and move the PTO lever/knob to the disengaged (OFF) position. If the Oil light or Battery light illuminates while the engine is running, stop the tractor immediately and check the crankcase oil level or charge the battery/check the charging system, respectively.
