Kubota built the B4672A and BL4690A to dig, and OEM #70000-73822 documents how to keep them doing it. Six pages of operating instructions cover backhoe controls, stabilizer placement, backfilling, truck loading, and safe lifting: the routines that protect both your machine and your crew. A hydraulic circuit schematic, a torque tightening chart for SAE Grade 5 and Metric Grade 8.8 fasteners, and setting-up instructions with tractor-group mast charts for correct ROPS fitment fill out the rest. The B4672A reaches 73.9 inches (1877 mm); the BL4690A pulls 90.2 inches (2291 mm), both on the same 180° swing arc. When your machine is down, work from the right numbers instead of forum guesses. Every section is bookmarked and searchable, so any spec sits a keyword away.

Kubota B4672A, BL4690A Common Problems This Manual Covers
Kubota B4672A boom and swing controls feel excessively sloppy, squeak loudly, and become hard to move. p. 20
Adjust the swing chain tension to correct for wear as shown on page 20. Check the adjustment every 40 hours of operation. Lubricate all spool valve linkage points and verify the swing cylinder retaining bolts are torqued to 140-160 ft. lbs. (190-218 N-m) on page 23.
Manual Section: Lubrication & MaintenanceStabilizers and hydraulic functions drift down when parked or machine sits over the weekend. p. 12
Inspect for loose hoses and fluid leaks during the pre-operation check-out on page 12. Verify the hydraulic system capacity is at the required 6.5 US gallons. Check the cylinders and spool valves for external leakage before attempting to secure the stabilizers.
Manual Section: Pre-Operation InstructionsOperator seat feels too close to the rollover protection structure during normal backhoe operation. p. 40
Verify the minimum seat to ROPS clearance is set to at least 40 inches as detailed on page 40. Inspect the mounting hardware and torque the ROPS 5/8-18 hex stop bolt nut to 95-105 ft. lbs. (13.2-14.5 kgf-m) on page 24.
Manual Section: Setting Up InstructionsAttachment and bucket are not securely engaged or exhibit excessive play during digging operations. p. 41
Measure the bucket and bucket link pins to ensure they meet the 25 mm diameter specification on page 41. Grease all daily lubrication fittings and check the pins for severe wear. Replace worn pivot components before exceeding the maximum 180° swing arc.
Manual Section: Setting Up InstructionsFrequently Asked Questions
How do I reset a Kubota B4672A or BL4690A backhoe?
To prepare the backhoe for operation after initial setup, remove the fillcap-dipstick and fill the reservoir with five (5) gallons of KUBOTA "UDT" oil. Then, start the tractor engine, engage the tractor PTO in the 540 RPM position, and set the hand throttle at 1400 to 1600 RPM. Disengage the boom and swing locks and bleed air from the cylinders by operating all backhoe functions several times through as much cylinder stroke as possible, adding approximately ONE gallon of hydraulic oil as needed.

Document Quality
This document is a scanned copy of an operator's and parts manual. An OCR layer is present, allowing you to search and copy the full text, which is generally crisp and readable throughout. Diagrams and illustrations are raster images, but their labels remain clear. The pages show typical scan artifacts, including some faint lines, minor edge marks, and slight skewing on a few pages.
