Ammann's 284-page workshop manual, OEM ID 4-P08000KU-EN, takes the ARX tandem roller apart system by system across four variants, from the ARX 12-2 through the 20-2, with the 16-2C included. Wiring diagrams, cable harness drawings and the hydraulic system diagram make this Ammann ARX 12-2 workshop manual PDF useful when you trace a harness to control unit A3 or follow oil through the travel circuit. Both drums get removal, disassembly and assembly sequences plus vibration unit bearing replacement, and the troubleshooting chapter runs steering, supply and travel pressure checks. Set axial clearance to 1.6 mm ± 0.45 on drum assembly, then fill the Kubota engine with 7 l (1.85 gal US) of oil. If a software error code is the fault you are chasing, the travel controller test and a 6 Ohm magnetic coil check are both here. Bought once, the PDF stays yours. Chapter bookmarks and keyword search come with it.

Ammann ARX 12-2, 16-2, 20-2 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Ammann ARX 12-2/16-2/20-2 travel pump moves machine in one direction only, slowly, or unequally
Check the electrics first, then pull the connectors from magnetic coils Y3 and Y4 and remove plugs X1 and X2 on the travel pump following page 204. If oil does not flow back into the pump housing under the open plug, the apertures are clogged or the control piston is off centre and jammed. Hydraulic oil leaking under pressure can injure skin (page 15).
Manual Section: Travel pump servo block check p. 204Travel pump supply or high pressure out of specification during hydrostatic travel pressure check
Disconnect and seal the brake piping, fit a 40 bar gauge and check 25 ± 2 bar supply pressure at maximum engine speed (page 198), with an assistant in the seat. For travel pressure, disconnect and seal high-pressure lines 20, 21, 30 and 31, gauge points A and B at 400 bar and expect 395 ± 15 bar per direction (page 200), deflecting the controller 5 seconds maximum. Leaking pressurized oil injures skin (page 15).
Manual Section: Pressure check p. 198Travel pump zero position out of adjustment, drum keeps turning with controller in neutral
Remove plugs X1 and X2, pull the aperture with an inner hexagon spanner, check it for clogging and blow it clear with compressed air, then refit it tight following page 201. Place the machine safely on blocks, leave the engine running, loosen the lock screw and turn the zero position adjuster carefully until the drum stops. Tighten the lock screw firmly.
Manual Section: Travel pump zero position adjustment p. 201Steering feels weak at full lock, steering pressure reads outside specification on gauge
Turn the machine to the steering limit position, release the screw plug with an inner hexagon spanner and set pressure on the control hexagon socket head screw following page 197. Verify 175 ± 10 bar on the gauge. Check the label number on the underside of the steering valve to confirm which valve is fitted. Hydraulic oil leaking under pressure can injure skin (page 15).
Manual Section: Pressure check p. 197Engine display shows F250 intake air volume low error during normal machine operation
Stop the machine and replace the inlet air filter cartridge following page 167; it is due at 500 operation hours at the latest even without F250. Do not blow out the filter's inner space with compressed air, and never run the machine with a damaged filter body or lid (page 168). If the error stays active, contact service as page 192 directs.
Manual Section: Engine p. 167Display shows F36 or F37 PWM pump current error on forward or reverse travel
Measure the travel pump magnetic coil resistance following page 173 and verify approximately 6 Ohm. Retighten the coil connector lock nut to 5+1 Nm. Then run the PUMP calibration from the display menu and confirm it reports SUCC; FAIL means the minimum travel coil currents were not stored and the values were not changed (page 195).
Manual Section: General Procedures p. 173Frequently Asked Questions
What are the error codes for the Ammann ARX 12-2, 16-2, and 20-2 machines?
The machine uses a two-stage error system. First-stage warnings include '11' for seat contact open, '12' for levers out of parking brake position, and '16' for active immobilizer. Second-stage errors are displayed as codes (e.g., F21 for Drive Joystick Right failure, F30 for Brake valve failure, or F51 for CAN_BUS0 error). If an error occurs, the display shows the number of active errors in brackets followed by the specific error codes. p. 188
What are the replacement specifications for the engine oil and engine oil filter on the Ammann ARX 12-2, 16-2, 20-2?
The engine oil capacity is 5.1 liters (1.3 gal US). The engine oil filter (order number 1504183) should be replaced, and the engine oil should be refilled to the upper dipstick mark with a total volume of 7 liters (1.85 gal US) including the filter volume. Always check the oil level with the dipstick after running the engine for 2-3 minutes and waiting 5 minutes for the oil to settle. p. 165
What is the procedure for replacing the hydraulic oil filter?
To replace the hydraulic oil filter, take off the filter cap, loosen the filter element, and remove it from the housing. Place a new filter element in the correct position, ensuring the arresting cam is aligned, and turn it clockwise until it stops. Finally, oil the sealing ring on the filter cap slightly and tighten the cap with a torque spanner to a maximum torque of 20 Nm. p. 68
What is the tightening torque for the ROPS screws on the Ammann ARX 12-2, 16-2, 20-2 tandem roller?
When lifting the ROPS to the vertical position and mounting the front screws on the left and right sides, the tightening torque for the ROPS screws must be 147 Nm. p. 75
What is the required coolant mixture and change interval for the Ammann ARX 12-2, 16-2, 20-2?
The cooling circuit must be filled with a 50%/50% mixture of coolant and distilled water, providing thermal protection down to -37°C. The coolant must be changed every 2 years at the latest. Always check the ratio of the antifreeze agent using a refractometer before the winter season starts. p. 32
