Hitachi
Hitachi excavator repair manuals in PDF. Two product families: the EX series (1980s through early 2000s) and the Zaxis/ZX series (2001 onward), covering everything from the 0.8-tonne EX8 to the 46-tonne ZX460LCH. The highest-demand models are the EX120-2 and the Zaxis 200 through 270. Both sit in the 12-to-27-tonne class that site foremen and fleet mechanics deal with daily.
These are factory W-prefix Workshop Manuals, TO-prefix Operation Principle volumes, and TT-prefix Troubleshooting documents. The same references a Hitachi dealer technician pulls up for every service call. Each PDF covers Hitachi’s proprietary TRIAS hydraulic system, Isuzu or Cummins engine rebuild specs, and the HIOS electronic pump controller. None of that appears in any aftermarket repair guide.

Choosing the Right Hitachi Manual
Repair manuals contain disassembly procedures, torque specs, hydraulic schematics, and fault code tables. If you are rebuilding a final drive, adjusting TRIAS pump pressure, or chasing a CAN bus fault, start here. The EX200-5 through EX270-5 manual is a good example: engine, hydraulics, undercarriage, and electrical in a single PDF. Parts manuals are illustrated parts lists with exploded views, OEM part numbers, and quantities per assembly. Useful for ordering the right seal kit or bearing before you start the teardown. Hitachi restricts all factory documentation behind their dealer portal, so these PDFs are the only way an independent shop or owner-operator gets the same technical depth without dealer credentials.
Are these the same manuals Hitachi dealers use?
Yes. Hitachi organizes factory service documentation into a three-volume set per model. The TO-prefix manual (Operation Principle) explains how each system works: hydraulic circuit logic, electrical signal paths, HIOS pump controller behavior. The TT-prefix manual (Troubleshooting) covers fault codes, diagnostic flowcharts, and sensor voltage checks. The W-prefix manual (Workshop) provides step-by-step disassembly with torque values, clearance specs, and wear limits. A dealer technician uses all three. The EX25/EX35/EX40 service manual follows this structure across engine, hydraulic, and undercarriage sections.
Worth noting: between 1988 and 2022, Hitachi excavators sold in North America were built through a joint venture with John Deere. Machines from that period carry dual branding. If you have a Deere-Hitachi excavator, the Hitachi factory manual covers your machine.
Do you offer refunds if I buy the wrong manual?
Yes, within 30 days. Hitachi’s naming can trip people up because there are two parallel product lines. The EX series (EX100, EX200, EX300) uses generation suffixes like -2, -3, -5. The Zaxis line (ZX110, ZX200, ZX350) uses -3, -5, -6, -7. An Zaxis 120 is a different machine from an EX120, and a -3 manual does not cover a -5 generation. Check the model plate on your excavator for the full designation including the generation suffix, then match it to the product listing. If you order the wrong version, reach out and we will sort it out.
