An hour from now you could be at the pressure test bar with this Bomag MPH 122-2 service manual PDF open on the screen: 658 factory pages for the soil stabilizer and asphalt recycler, OEM 008 917 87. Circuit diagrams close the book, from hydraulic diagram 593 301 24 through the machine wiring to separate electric, hydraulic, pneumatic and heating schematics for the bitumen metering system. Fault tracing on the Deutz TCD 2015 V6 runs from flashing codes through SERDIA and CAN-bus diagnostics to the full EMR3 fault code list, and the A4VG56 travel pump and A4VG180 rotor pump each get their own troubleshooting sections. Crank the starter one minute at most, then let it cool 30 minutes; never heat oils past 160 degrees C. Misdiagnose a rotor pump and you pay for the rebuild twice. Pay once here, and a bookmarked, text-searchable copy stays with your machine for good.

Bomag MPH 122-2 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Bomag MPH 122-2 shuts down randomly during stabilizing passes, intermittent electrical fault, sometimes won't restart

Check wiring and plug connections before condemning the control unit; most of these faults are loose or corroded connectors, not electronics. Work through the wiring diagram starting, wiggle-testing harness plugs with the fault present. Verify battery open-circuit voltage reads 12.6 V fully charged per page 80, and confirm the main battery switch contacts are clean.

Manual Section: Electrics p. 80
Starter just clicks or cranks slowly, engine won't turn over on cold mornings

Measure battery open-circuit voltage first: 12.6 V means fully charged, anything at 12.25 V or below needs recharging before you go further. Check electrolyte density, 1.285 kg/dm3 at 27 degrees C when fully charged per page 78. Clean and tighten the ground strap and starter terminals, and never crank longer than 1 minute; allow 30 minutes cooling between attempts.

Manual Section: Electrics p. 78
Rotor bogs down and stalls in the cut, won't hold speed under load

Verify rotor speed against spec before opening the pump: Stage 1 should turn 125 rpm and Stage 11 should reach 185 rpm, with rotor pump control current running 480 mA to 660 mA per page 466. Measure the control current at the pump solenoid; if current is correct but speed is low, test the rotor drive circuit for internal leakage.

Manual Section: Hydraulics p. 466
Engine runs hot and overheats halfway through the shift in dusty milling conditions

Check the radiator and cooling air channels first; recycling dust packs them fast. Blow them out from the clean side with compressed air at no more than 5 bar, following the procedure on page 351. Verify coolant level against the 50 litre system capacity listed on page 49, then recheck operating temperature under full rotor load before releasing the machine.

Manual Section: Engine p. 351
Diagnosis lamp keeps flashing fault codes, engine derates and then shuts down mid-pass

Read the blink code and match it against the EMR3 fault code list starting before swapping parts. Test sensor supply circuits: the oil pressure sensor should see 5 V per page 208. If you pull a sensor for replacement, torque the oil pressure sensor to 20 Nm and the coolant temperature sensor to 22 Nm on reinstall.

Manual Section: Engine Electrics
