What's inside: the Fendt workshop manual for the 300 Vario COM III family - 309, 310, 311 and 312 Vario, chassis 336 through 339 from number 1001 on, 1,185 pages. All four tractors share the DEUTZ TCD 2012 L4 4V common-rail engine at 2100 rpm and the ML 75 stepless Vario transmission, so one book really does cover the range; only rated power differs, 59 kW / 80 hp on the 309 up to 81 kW / 110 hp on the 312. You get repair coverage for the engine and common rail fuel system, the ML 75 transmission with its differential, axle drives, PTO and brakes, the cab, air conditioning, air compressor and both power lifts. The electrical half is the part that earns its keep: a full sheet-by-sheet circuit diagram set (page 520 is Sheet 22, Transmission control, drawing 339.900.000.004, whose title block names 309/310/311/312 Vario), followed by component-by-component test procedures indexed the way Fendt codes them - A for control units and ECUs, B for sensors, K for relays, M for motors, S for switches, Y for solenoid valves. Hydraulic coverage includes the ML 75 functional schematic on page 154 and the Bosch EHR23-LS sectional view with its circuit diagram on page 416.

Fendt 309 Vario COM III, 310 Vario COM III, 311 Vario COM III, 312 Vario COM III Common Problems This Manual Covers
Transmission drops into emergency mode and the tractor will only crawl or refuses to drive
Work through the Transmission emergency operating mode procedure, then follow the control unit functional sequence and the E - Testing chapter with the hydraulic legend to find whether the fault is electrical, a solenoid or actual pressure loss in the ML 75.
Manual Section: Transmission, Axles, PTO and Brakes - Emergency operating mode / E - Testing p. 154Intermittent electrical faults: PTO cuts out, 4WD or diff lock will not engage, gauges act up
Test the suspect component directly using its coded procedure - S019/S020 PTO switches, the 4WD and differential lock solenoid valves, individual sensors - then trace the circuit on the matching diagram sheet in the 446 to 643 diagram sets instead of swapping parts blind.
Manual Section: Electrical Testing - Sensors / Switches / Solenoid Valves, plus the circuit diagram setsRear power lift hunts, drops the implement or ignores the external switches
Start with the EPC rear power lift repair section, check external switches S027 through S030 with their test procedures, and use the Bosch EHR23-LS sectional view with its hydraulic circuit diagram to separate a valve fault from a position sensor fault.
Manual Section: Cab, Power Lift and Air Compressor - EPC rear power lift; Hydraulics valve assembliesEngine down on power or running rough on the common rail system
Read the general description of the common rail system first so you know the layout, follow the engine emergency operating mode notes, then measure actual output against the FENDT 300 Vario engine specifications using the PTO power measuring procedure to confirm before opening anything.
Manual Section: Engine - Repair and Fuel System, with Service / Special tools common railFrequently Asked Questions
Does this manual have the full wiring diagrams, or just an overview sheet?
The full set. Roughly pages 446 to 643 carry three complete sheet-by-sheet circuit diagram sets, including drawing 339.900.000.004 whose title block names the 309/310/311/312 Vario directly. Sheet 22 alone covers transmission control. Fuse holders X050, X051 and A013, the instrument cluster microfuses and the control panel each get their own sheets. p. 446
The tractor is in transmission limp mode. Will this book get me out of it?
Yes, that is exactly what the Transmission section is built for. It has the emergency operating mode procedure, the control unit functional sequence, the ML 75 functional schematic showing planetary gear, displacement pump, hydro motor and accumulator shaft, plus a testing chapter with the hydraulic legend so you can trace pressures instead of guessing. p. 154
How do I test individual sensors and solenoid valves without a dealer tester?
The electrical half is organized by Fendt component code: A for control units, B for sensors, M for motors, S for switches, Y for solenoid valves. Each one - PTO speed sensors, the transmission high pressure sensor, the 4WD and differential lock solenoids, brake switches - gets its own test procedure. That is what a mechanic chasing a fault actually uses.
Does it cover the common rail fuel system on the DEUTZ engine?
Yes. There is a general description of the common rail system, the engine emergency operating mode, full specifications for the TCD 2012 L4 4V, and a Service section listing the special tools for common rail work including the adapter cable. PTO power measurement and fuel consumption procedures are in there too. p. 288
Some power lift pages say Farmer 300C - did I get the wrong manual?
No. That is Fendt's own cross-reference for the EPC rear power lift, which is shared between the ranges. The lift procedures apply to the 309 through 312 Vario as written. The hydraulics chapters also include the Bosch EHR23-LS sectional view with its hydraulic circuit diagram, so the lift is covered in depth, not by reference.
