Part of the New Holland Repair Manuals.
This is the factory repair manual for the New Holland E385B Tier III crawler excavator, published by New Holland Kobelco Construction Machinery. It follows the Kobelco five-part structure: safety precautions, operational principle, operational performance test, troubleshooting and repair instructions. The specification tables give the main pump's displacement, its relief and power-boost pressures and its flow, and troubleshooting is split into a code-led part and a symptom-led part before the repair instructions take the machine apart.

New Holland E385B Tier III Common Problems This Manual Covers
Digging power is down, or the machine stalls in hard material.
Check whether power boost is working before you condemn the pump. Main relief is set to 34.3 MPa at 135 L/min per section, and power boost lifts it to 37.8 MPa at 125 L/min. A machine that never sees boost pressure loses exactly the power you notice in hard digging, and the cause is usually the Mechatro command rather than the relief valve. Read the Mechatro chapter, then measure with the performance-test procedure.
Manual Section: Operational Performance TestAn error code, or a machine that behaves oddly with no code at all.
The manual gives you two routes and expects you to pick. If a code is set, work the code-led part from page 427, which carries the diagnostic behind each one. If nothing is reported, use the symptom-led part from page 499, and if the machine state itself is the clue, the failure diagnosis section from page 820 works that way. Do not force one route to answer a question the other was written for.
Manual Section: Troubleshooting by Error CodesThe pump has been replaced but performance is still wrong.
Measure against the standard performance table rather than by feel. Maximum flow should be 294 L/min per section at 7.8 MPa and maximum input power 195 kW. If the pump makes flow but the machine is slow, the fault is in the control valve or the Mechatro command. The repair instructions carry the pump device overhaul with its tightening torques, and the performance test section tells you what to expect afterwards.

Which machine does this manual cover, and how does it relate to the other E385B book?
The E385B in its Tier III emissions specification. New Holland also published a workshop manual covering the E385 and E385B together, which is a different and slightly shorter book. If your machine is Tier III, this is the volume that matches it; the pump and motor figures are the same across both because the hydraulics are unchanged.
What are the main pump specifications?
Maximum displacement is 140 cm3 per section, two sections. Rated pressure is 34.3 MPa (4980 psi) and maximum flow 294 L/min (78 gal/min) per section at 7.8 MPa. The pump absorbs up to 195 kW (265 PS). The main relief valve is set to 34.3 MPa (4970 psi) at 135 L/min per section, and power boost raises that to 37.8 MPa (5480 psi) at 125 L/min per section.
How is troubleshooting organised?
Two ways, then a third. Troubleshooting by error codes runs from page 427 to page 498 and works from what the machine reports. Troubleshooting by trouble runs from 499 to 542 and works from what the operator sees. A separate failure diagnosis section at 820 to 888 works by machine state, and the engine diagnosis codes sit at the very back from page 1027.
Does it cover the Mechatro control system?
Yes, at pages 80 to 177, followed by the electrical system at 178 to 222. That chapter is what makes the error-code troubleshooting usable, because it explains how the controller commands the pump regulator and the control valve before you start measuring circuits.
How big is the manual and can I search it?
It is 1090 pages in English, a searchable and printable PDF. Search the text, print the pages you need for the bench, and keep the rest on a laptop in the workshop.
Is this New Holland E385B Tier III Repair Manual a digital download?
You get a 1090-page searchable PDF (125 MB) that downloads instantly after checkout. Open it on your laptop, tablet, or phone, and bring it right to the shop floor.
Are there any print restrictions on this New Holland E385B Tier III manual?
Yes, print as many copies as you want, and there are no restrictions. Many mechanics print the section they need and bring it to the shop floor.
