Fiat Kobelco built the T13, T14 and T17 around one machine family, and this 488-page service manual (OEM #604.02.395.01) works it end to end, from engine to boom tip. Electrical circuit diagrams cover starting, transmission, arm control, stabilisers and the tip-over prevention system; hydraulic schematics trace the steering circuit and the telescopic boom. The powershift gearbox section runs from pressure testing through full overhaul, with front and rear axle rebuilds and troubleshooting charts beside it. Brakes, power steering and the working platform controller calibration are in here too. Check the platform controller joystick for 2.2 V in neutral, and confirm the 105 Ah battery feeds a healthy 90 amp alternator before you condemn a harness. No more chasing wiring faults with a multimeter and a prayer. Bookmarked PDF that opens on any device; search any spec by keyword and get wrenching.

Fiat Kobelco T13, T14, T17 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Fiat Kobelco T13 telehandler cranks but won't fire, starter turns over slowly on cold mornings
Test battery open circuit voltage before anything else; a healthy battery reads 12.6 volts minimum, and the general fault-finding table on page 430 walks the starting and charging checks in order. Clean and tighten the battery connections, confirm the isolator switch is re-instated, and establish whether the main machine fuse link has blown. If the starter is dead rather than slow, put the transmission shift lever in neutral first. Cranking speed good but still no fire? Work the engine troubleshooting charts from page 144, starting with fuel supply and injection pump delivery.
Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 430Boom lift slow and weak under load, one hydraulic function completely dead
Check hydraulic oil level first; the system holds 180 litres and low oil starves one circuit before the rest. Tee a gauge into the main circuit and verify 240 bar relief pressure against the spec on page 37. If pressure is good but one function stays dead, test the proportional valve cartridge before condemning the pump.
Manual Section: Hydraulic System p. 347Hydraulic hose bulging near the fitting, oil misting under the boom at full pressure
Lower the boom to the ground and shut the engine off before touching anything; this circuit runs at 240 bar and a bulged hose can let go in your hands. Cycle the control levers to bleed trapped pressure, then replace the hose complete, never patch it. Review the hydraulic safety procedures starting on page 9 first.
Manual Section: General Instructions p. 9Personnel carrier platform controls erratic or unresponsive after a joystick or controller swap
The Rexroth platform controller has to be re-taught its joystick end points before it will behave. Connect BB3 to the 12-way connector on the rear of the machine, set the starter key to ON with the radio control started, then run the Poti Adjust routine from page 393: 2.2 V with the joystick in neutral (page 394), 4.0 V at full lowering stroke (page 395), and 0.4 V at full lifting stroke. Readings outside those windows point at the joystick potentiometer rather than the valve.
Manual Section: Hydraulic System p. 393Braking feels weak and parking brake barely holds the machine on a grade
Worn discs open the running clearance and kill pedal feel long before the discs are finished, so measure thickness before you touch anything else. The adjustment procedure on page 338 has you hold the brakes applied and measure gap S between the discs with a thickness gauge, keeping it at 4.5 mm minimum, and it wants both axle arms done. The parking brake is mechanical, a caliper closing on a disc at the transmission output, so if it slips on a grade check that disc thickness and its adjustment, and confirm the axle oil level while you are in there. Torque wheel nuts to 540 Nm on refit.
