Boom goes soft under load, machine won't start, drive cuts out mid-shift. The DL series tells you nothing. This manual gives you hydraulic schematics, wiring, and torque specs to find the fault fast.

This Gehl DL Series Dynalift Service Manual (OEM #907871) runs 580 pages on one job: keeping your DL6 through DL12 telehandler at factory spec. Electrical schematics come with full troubleshooting and testing steps. Hydraulic schematics trace every cylinder circuit, from the stabilizers out to the boom extend. Another 15 pages of fault-finding charts walk you through system failures instead of leaving you to guess. Torque and fluid specs sit up front: fill the hydraulic reservoir to 45 gal. (170 L), and torque the boom chain adjustment fasteners and inner boom slide pad bolts to 30 ft-lbs (40.7 Nm). With the machine down, every idle hour bleeds money, so the DL9 and DL10 sections get you the factory answer on the first try. Bookmarked by section and keyword-searchable: open it on a tablet at the machine and start wrenching.

Gehl DL6–DL12 Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

On the DL9, the boom won't lift under load and hydraulic functions feel weak or erratic

Start at the main relief valve setting on page 19. Connect a pressure gauge to the test port and confirm the system climbs to 3000 PSI (207 bar). Low pressure points you to the control components and flow divider covered in the troubleshooting steps; adjust or swap the faulty valves.

Manual Section: Hydraulic: Boom Lift Troubleshooting
Engine temperature gauge spikes and transmission runs unusually hot during continuous heavy lifting cycles p. 569

Drain the transmission fluid and refill with exactly 16 qts. (15.1 L) of approved oil per page 16. Clear any debris packed into the radiator fins. If internal blockages remain, pull and flush the radiator assembly following page 569.

Manual Section: Radiator Removal & Installation
Telescoping boom extension movement is jerky and chains slap loudly against the inner boom sections p. 327

Inspect the boom chains for excessive slack or binding. Adjust the leaf chain tensioning nuts until tight, then torque the boom chain adjustment hardware to 30 ft-lbs (40.7 Nm) as directed on page 327. Lubricate the rollers and verify smooth boom extension without binding or jerking.

Manual Section: Single & Double Leaf Chain Adjustment
Steering wheel feels completely unresponsive or requires excessive physical effort to turn the tires p. 109

Measure the steering pressure at the control valve and confirm the gauge holds 2500 PSI (172 bar) at full lock, the figure listed on page 19. If it falls short, pull the steering control valve and inspect it using the disassembly procedure on page 109. Replace worn internal seals, then retest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the service procedure for GEHL DL series hydraulic or electrical faults?

On the DL10, electrical faults route you to the "ELECTRICAL SCHEMATICS, TROUBLESHOOTING TESTING & ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES" section starting on page 53, with flowcharts and component tests. Hydraulic faults send you to the "HYDRAULIC SCHEMATICS, TROUBLESHOOTING TESTING & ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES" section starting on page 177, which lays out pressure tests and adjustments for each hydraulic circuit.

What are the replacement specifications for Hydraulic filters?

It's a remote, replaceable 15 Micron element. Rated flow runs 70 GPM (265 L/min), rated pressure 800 PSI (55 bar), and by-pass pressure at full flow 45 PSI (3.0 bar).

What are the replacement specifications for Hydraulic hoses?

The replacement interior boom hoses are P/N L71391 (254" / 645 cm) and P/N L71390 (248" / 630 cm). Uncoil and mark each one before installation; each has a shorter split end of 8 inches (20 cm) for attachment.

What format is this Gehl DL6–DL12 Series manual in?

Instant PDF download. The full 580-page searchable Service Manual lands the moment payment clears. Open it on a laptop, tablet, or phone right in the shop.

Am I able to print pages from this Gehl DL6–DL12 Series manual?
