Safe, productive daily running of three skid-steer loaders comes down to 43 pages in this Gehl SL7610, SL7710, SL7810 operator manual PDF (Form No. 917032), with the European-spec SL7710 covered as well. Controls and safety equipment fill a good share of the book, from the operator restraint bar to the lift arm support device, and the operation chapter takes you through engine starting and changing attachments. Troubleshooting charts for the electrical system and engine come next, while the maintenance chapter sets intervals for the air cleaner, cooling system, drive chains and lift arm pivots. Expect 3300 psi from the main hydraulic system and 29 gpm at standard flow; torque wheel nuts to 180 ft-lbs. Climbing under raised lift arms leaves no room for doubt. Bookmarked, text-searchable pages jump straight to loader identification, so your dealer gets the right model and serial number and the part arrives correct the first time.

Gehl SL7610, SL7710, SL7810, SL7710 (EU) Common Problems This Manual Covers

Gehl SL7610, SL7710 and SL7810 starter will not engage when the key is turned to START

Clean the battery terminals and cables and retighten them, then recharge or replace a discharged battery. Before servicing the battery or wiring, set the battery disconnect switch to OFF (page 30). Check ignition, seat switch and restraint bar switch wiring for loose or broken leads per page 31. Never bypass the keyswitch (page 6); if the seat switch, restraint bar switch, starter relay or starter solenoid is at fault, contact your dealer.

Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 31
Loader engine turns over on the starter but will not fire or start

Return the control valves to neutral and confirm the fuel tank is not empty. Replace a plugged fuel filter with no smoking or spark-producing equipment nearby (page 6). Check connections and voltage at the fuel shut-off solenoid following page 32. If cranking speed is slow, recharge or replace the battery; in cold weather, pre-warm the engine or install a block heater. A failed fuel pump goes to your dealer.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 32
Engine runs hot and overheats repeatedly during sustained digging and loading work

Shut the engine off and clear any blockage restricting fan air circulation, then check crankcase oil level and add or remove oil as required. Add coolant if low, but never remove the cap while coolant is hot (page 29). Tighten a loose fan belt, replace a restricted air filter, and let the exhaust cool before clearing a restriction, per page 32. A misplaced fan shroud is a dealer job.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 32
Lift arm and bucket tilt controls fail to respond when the operator works the controls

Lower the restraint bar first, then check oil level in the reservoir. If low, look for external leaks with a piece of cardboard, never your hands (page 9), with the lift arm lowered (page 28); repair and add oil. Allow longer warm-up if oil is too heavy. Check electrical connections to the lift solenoid per page 33. Never bypass the seat or restraint bar switch (page 10); a faulty switch goes to your dealer.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System Troubleshooting p. 33
Lift arm drifts down and will not hold raised position with lift control in neutral

Lower the lift arm before servicing the hydraulics (page 28), then check oil level in the reservoir and inspect the hoses, tubes and fittings between the control valve and cylinders following page 34. Hunt leaks with a piece of cardboard, never your hands (page 9). Tighten fittings and replace leaking hoses or tubes as needed. Leakage past the lift cylinder seals or lift spool, or a faulty self-leveling valve, is a dealer repair.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System Troubleshooting p. 34
Auxiliary hydraulics function slowly or do not function at all with an attachment hooked up

Lower the restraint bar and turn the flow control knob up from minimum, then run the engine at higher speed. With the lift arm lowered (page 28), add hydraulic oil if low and check the load sensing signal line, tightening or replacing it if loose or broken. Readjust control linkage for full spool travel per page 34. A failed load sensing compensator or high pressure compensator goes to your dealer.
