Landini MISTRAL AMERICA 40HST, MISTRAL AMERICA 45HST, MISTRAL AMERICA 50HST Common Problems This Manual Covers

Landini Mistral America 40HST engine runs hot under load and warning light indicates high coolant temperature

Inspect the cooling circuit and test the thermostat operation. Replace the thermostat if it fails to open fully within the normal operating temperature range of 69.5 ÷ 72.5°C as specified on page 93. Flush any scaling from the cylinder head and crankcase.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 93
Three-point hitch remains locked in transport position or loader lacks lifting power

Test the auxiliary control valves pressure setting using a hydraulic gauge. Verify the system reaches 185 ÷ 190 bar before the over-pressure valve trips, shown on page 329. If pressure is low, inspect hydraulic couplers for loose connections that restrict fluid flow.

Manual Section: Hydraulic Circuits – Rear Power Lift p. 329
Tractor remains braked after releasing the pedal or exhibits unbalanced braking on one side

Measure the idle travel of both left and right brake pedals. Adjust the linkage turnbuckles until you achieve the correct free play of 30 – 35 mm as detailed on page 355. Torque the nuts fixing the final drive housing to 135 ÷ 149 Nm if previously removed.

Manual Section: Brakes p. 355
Hydrostatic gearbox experiences low speed output or jolting movement when shifting gears under heavy load

Remove the transmission housing to access the clutch assembly. Inspect all 7 driven and 7 driving plates for excessive wear, burning, or glazing as outlined on page 193. Replace the entire clutch pack if tolerances are exceeded or plates show severe friction damage.

Manual Section: Troubleshooting for the Hydrostatic Gearbox p. 193
