A warning light comes on in the cab with a loaded baler behind you and nobody to ask until the dealer opens Monday; the 506 pages in this book exist so that moment ends at a page number instead of a guess. It covers the New Holland T6.140, T6.150 and T6.160, publication 47897262, in English.

Controls and Instruments runs through the operator platform, cab air filters, electronic parking brake and the switchgear you use every day. Working Operations covers the automated headland sequences and the display screens behind them. Maintenance holds the service chart, fluid capacities, front axle and hydraulic specifications, and what to do when a warning light comes on.

Thirty-nine bookmarks and a clean section split mean the download opens to the page you need in a minute or two, which is the difference between finishing before the rain and parking the tractor.

New Holland T6.140, T6.150, T6.160 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Dust in the cab and weak airflow

Chaff and field dust pack the cab air filters until the fan moves almost nothing and cab pressure drops, letting dirt in around the door seals. The Controls and Instruments section shows where the filters sit and how the cab air pressurisation control works.

Manual Section: Controls and Instruments p. 71
Headland sequence replays out of order

A recorded headland sequence that lifts the hitch or drops the PTO at the wrong point usually means the record run was made at a different speed or the steps were saved in the wrong order. Working Operations walks recording, replaying and deleting a sequence on the color display.

Manual Section: Working Operations p. 173
Warning light for water in fuel

Condensation and dirty bulk fuel fill the water separator, and the tractor flags it before the injection system suffers. The Maintenance section covers what to do when the warning light is on, including draining the fuel system water separator and changing the engine air cleaner outer element.

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 375
Wheel nuts slacken after changing track width

Wheel hardware left short of spec works loose within a few hours of row work and elongates the mounting holes. Maintenance gives 279 Nm (206 lb ft) for the front disc to hub nuts and 250 Nm (184 lb ft) for the front disc to rim nuts on four wheel drive adjustable front wheels, so you can set them properly instead of guessing.

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 406
Remote hydraulics slow under load

Remote cylinders that creep or stall on a heavy implement usually point at pump output or a relief setting rather than the implement itself. Specifications gives a remote control valve maximum pressure of 210 bar (3045 psi) at rated engine speed, which gives you a figure to test against.

Manual Section: Specifications p. 481
Front axle overloaded during loader work

A loader and front ballast stack weight onto the front axle faster than owners expect, and steering wear and axle damage follow. Working Operations lists a maximum front axle loading of 4100 kg for continuous operation on the Class 3 4WD axle, and Specifications gives a maximum total operating weight of 9500 kg.

Manual Section: Working Operations p. 361
Stuck tractor damaged during recovery

Pulling from the wrong point or towing with the driveline in the wrong state turns a bogged tractor into a transmission repair. Transport Operations covers freeing a stuck tractor, towing it correctly and securing it on a transporter.

Manual Section: Transport Operations p. 169

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tractors does this operator manual cover?

It covers the New Holland T6.140, T6.150 and T6.160 tractors, published under New Holland number 47897262. The cover (page 1) lists all three models, and the product, engine, drive line and cab identification pages (pages 15 to 17) show where the serial numbers are stamped so you can confirm your own tractor. p. 1

Does it list fluid capacities for servicing?

Yes. Maintenance gives 10 l of engine oil including filter, 62 l for the transmission, rear axle and hydraulics, 9 l for the 4WD front axle differential, 0.5 l for the front PTO gearbox, a 175 l fuel tank and a 37 l DEF tank. p. 387

Are torque figures included?

Some are. Specifications gives hub stud torques such as 210 Nm (154.9 lb ft) for the eight M16 studs on the 4WD front axle, and Maintenance gives the wheel nut torques on page 406. This is an operator manual, so it carries service torques rather than full engine or transmission overhaul specifications. p. 472

What does it say when a maintenance warning light comes on?

The Maintenance section opens with the maintenance chart and a dedicated part for when the warning light is on, covering the engine air cleaner outer element, draining the fuel system water separator and checking the brake fluid level. p. 375
