Auto PTO that quits engaging at the headland is usually a setting, not a clutch, and the procedure to check it sits in this book. New Holland publication 47960466 is the same 590 page operator manual issued with the T7.230, T7.245, T7.260 and T7.270.

Guessing is the expensive option. A wheel disc torqued by feel, a remote hose replaced with the wrong pressure rating, a ballast package that quietly puts you over the rated gross weight: each one buys a second teardown or a ruined component in the week you can least spare the tractor.

Twenty-seven bookmarks put the transmission and PTO chapter, the electro-hydraulic remote valves, the rear and front hitch sections and the maintenance charts each a few seconds away. Download the PDF, keep it on a tablet in the cab and printed in the shop, and get back in the field.

New Holland T7.230, T7.245, T7.260, T7.270 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Wheel nuts loosen after track adjustment

Changing wheel track and reusing hardware without a torque wrench leads to walking discs and elongated bolt holes. The Maintenance section lists the wheel figures, including 279 Nm (206 lb ft) for front disc to hub nuts and 341 Nm (252 lb ft) for flanged rear axle disc to hub nuts.

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 495
Ballast package pushes tractor over weight

Front weights plus wheel ballast are easy to overdo once a mounted implement and full tanks are added for heavy draft work. The manual gives a maximum gross vehicle weight of 13000 kg, and the ballasting and tires pages cover how that weight should be distributed.

Manual Section: Drawbars, Towing, and Ballasting p. 440
Remote valve hoses weep under load

Hoses on the electro-hydraulic remotes fail where they flex, often after being replaced with whatever was on the shelf. The section specifies hoses rated to 125 °C (257 °F), with a working pressure of 295 bar (4278 psi) for the pressure and sensing lines.

Manual Section: Electro-Hydraulic Remote Control Valves p. 354
Power beyond circuit will not build pressure

An implement fed from the power beyond port that runs slow or stalls is often the tractor circuit rather than the implement. The manual states standby pressure in the pressure line of 21 bar (305 psi) to 24 bar (348 psi), which gives you a figure to gauge against.

Manual Section: Hydraulic Power Beyond Port and Three Point Hitch p. 371
Auto PTO engages late or not at all

A front PTO that drops out early or refuses to pick back up is usually configuration rather than a failed clutch pack. The Front Power Take-Off (PTO) section covers front PTO operation, the front PTO switch and auto PTO behaviour.

Manual Section: Front Power Take-Off (PTO) p. 297
Hitch drifts down or draft control hunts

A rear hitch that creeps down overnight or surges in work is frequently an Electronic Draft Control setup issue, not a worn ram. The Rear Hitch section covers EDC, the EDC panel, the hitch position display and the external hitch controls.

Manual Section: Rear Hitch p. 301
Wrong fill quantity at service

Topping up by eye after an oil and filter change either overfills the sump or leaves the cooling system short. The Maintenance section lists 15 L engine oil including filter, 22.5 L cooling system, and 84 L for the CVT transmission, rear axle and hydraulics.

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 473

Does it cover the front PTO and front hitch?

Yes. Separate sections cover front PTO operation, the front PTO switch and auto PTO, then front hitch settings, coupling and uncoupling an implement, and front hitch management. p. 297

Are wheel and hardware torque figures included?

Yes. The Maintenance section lists wheel hardware torques, including 250 Nm (184 lb ft) for disc to rim nuts and 500 Nm (369 lb ft) for bar axle split wedge bolts with a 10 bolt hub. p. 495
