Deutz diesel engine, hydrostatic travel drive, vibration circuit, steering and electrics: this Bomag BW 211 D-40, BW 212 D-40, BW 213 D-40 Service Training PDF walks every one of those systems end to end across 150 pages, factory document 008 097 26 for all three single drum rollers. Hydraulic schematics trace the travel pump, charge pressure relief valve and drum drive motor, while wiring diagrams for the electrics come backed by a full component listing. Each drive section closes with test and adjustment points and its own troubleshooting table, so you measure before you condemn a pump. Verify fuel pre-pressure at 10 bar, then torque the cylinder head covers to 9 Nm, give or take 1. A roller parked on a half-finished lift for want of one pressure figure holds the whole crew. Bookmarked and text-layered, this file lives wherever you and the machine happen to be.

Bomag BW 211 D-40, BW 212 D-40, BW 213 D-40 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Bomag BW 211 D-40 oil pressure warning buzzer at idle, engine shuts down under load

Stop the engine immediately. Check the oil level and top up to the full 10 L capacity given on page 11. Inspect the filter, oil cooler, and fittings for leaks in the lubrication circuit covered in the Deutz engine section starting on page 18. If pressure stays low with a correct level, test the pressure switch first.

Manual Section: Deutz Diesel Engine p. 18
Engine cranks but won't start, dies again after running out of fuel in cold weather

Check for an empty tank or waxed winter fuel first, then bleed the fuel system. Test fuel pre-pressure at the pump; the spec on page 26 is 10 bar. Replace a clogged fuel filter and drain the pre-filter. If the starter pinion will not engage, load-test the battery and clean the starter connections before condemning the pump.

Manual Section: Deutz Diesel Engine p. 26
Engine overheats and temperature warning lamp comes on during long vibration passes

Shut down and let the engine cool, then blow the radiator fins clean with compressed air, working from the fan side out. Check coolant level and refill; the system holds 16 L per the specs on page 11. Clean the hydraulic oil cooler at the same time, and verify fan drive and shrouding before putting it back in the pass.

Manual Section: Deutz Diesel Engine p. 18
Machine starts and runs but will not drive, or travel is weak in one direction

Start at the travel system troubleshooting chart on page 83; it covers no-drive, single-direction, and neutral-creep faults. Verify charge pressure at the travel pump test points and confirm the brakes release. If the hydraulic oil overheated, drain and refill the full 60 L capacity listed on page 11 and change the filter before running the drum again.

Manual Section: Trouble shooting in travel system p. 83
Drum vibration won't start, or the exciter only runs on one amplitude setting

Work through the vibration troubleshooting chart on page 98 for no-vibration and single-amplitude faults. Test the high pressure relief valves and pump control at the test points in the vibration section. Inspect the exciter shaft drive, and if the oil is contaminated, change the hydraulic oil and breather filter, due at least every 2 years per the schedule on page 16.

Manual Section: Trouble shooting in vibration system p. 98
Engine down on power, runs rough with tappet noise at full throttle

Check and adjust valve clearance with the engine cold, following the procedure on page 27: 0.3 mm intake, 0.5 mm exhaust. Torque the cylinder head cover back down to 9 Nm per page 44. If it still lags, check throttle cable play and fuel supply before blaming the injectors.

Manual Section: Checking and adjusting the valve clearance p. 27
