This Case factory service manual covers the Alpha Series Tier 4A SR220, SR250, SV250 and SV300 skid steers and the TR320 and TV380 track loaders, with both mechanical and EH controls.

It covers engine removal, EGR and DPF aftertreatment, the chain drive and the hydrostatic pump and drive motors. It also covers the loader valve, enhanced high flow, quick coupler, rubber tracks and cab climate. For the wiring there are schematic sheets, connector views and fault code tests.

A job usually stalls for want of one number: the relief setting, the track sag or how much oil goes back in. Print it, so the pages can go to the bench and get dirty.

Case SR220–TV380 Alpha Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

One side drive works correctly and the other does not

On an EH unit, run the EH pump electrical check and verify the calibration. Then confirm power to the interlock valve and check that it works. Check power to the brake valve and make sure both park brakes have released. Next, check the circuit relief valve setting on the bad side, then check charge pressure.

Manual Section: Hydrostatic drive - Pump and motor components - Troubleshooting p. 401
Machine does not have enough power

On an EH unit, do the electrical check and calibration and check the interlock valve. If full throttle speed is OK but rated engine speed drops, look at the engine or fuel system. Otherwise check charge pressure. Then run the pump and motor pressure test to find out whether the pump or a drive motor has failed.

Manual Section: Hydrostatic drive - Pump and motor components - Troubleshooting p. 401
Loaded bucket dumps or uncurls with the control valve in neutral

A leaking unloading spool causes this. Pull the spool and inspect it for damage. If the bucket drifts toward dump, there are three likely causes. The bucket cylinder packing may be bad, so repack the cylinder. The loader control valve ports may leak too much, so replace the valve. Or the unloading spool in the leveling valve may be stuck.

Manual Section: Front loader bucket hydraulic system - Troubleshooting p. 623
Engine air filter restriction warning on the instrument cluster

The cluster is seeing the air filter restriction switch tripped. The cause could be a clogged filter, a signal wire shorted to ground, a bad switch or a bad cluster. Inspect the air filter first and replace it if needed. Then trace the switch wiring for a short to ground and test the switch itself.

Manual Section: Fault codes - Engine air filter restriction p. 1450

Frequently Asked Questions

Which engine does each Case SR220, SR250, SV250, SV300, TR320 and TV380 have?

The SR220 and SV250 use engine F5HFL413H*A001. The SR250, SV300, TR320 and TV380 use the F5HFL413L*A001, as listed for North America. Read the engine serial plate before you order anything. The identification section shows where that plate and the PIN plate are. p. 2

How much engine oil does a Case SR250, SV300, TR320 or TV380 take, and which grade?

The SR250, SV300, TR320 and TV380 take 8.5 l (8.9 US qt) with a filter change. The oil called for is CASE AKCELA UNITEK NO. 1 SBL CJ-4. p. 39

How much hydraulic oil does a Case SR250, SV300, TR320 or TV380 hold?

On the SR250, SV300, TR320 and TV380 the reservoir holds 15.0 l (3.96 US gal) and the whole system holds 45.4 l (12.0 US gal). The fluid is CASE AKCELA ENGINE OIL 10W-30. p. 39

What is the loader valve main relief pressure and auxiliary flow on the Case SR220, SR250, SV250, SV300, TR320, TV380?

The loader valve main relief is set at 207 - 217 bar (3000 - 3145 psi). The secondary auxiliary valve gives 87 l/min (23.0 US gpm) at the supply inlet. On enhanced high flow machines the pump delivers 126 - 133 l/min (33 - 35 US gpm) at 2500 RPM. p. 491

How do I set rubber track tension on a TR320 or TV380?

Pump grease in at the adjuster until the gap between the bottom of the 2 center rollers and the top of the track is 12 - 19 mm (0.47 - 0.75 in). To slacken the track, open the grease valve. Then tighten the grease valve to 90 ± 10 Nm (66 ± 10 lb ft). p. 670
