Part of the Case Repair Manuals.
Dual path hydrostatic drive is the system on a 2050M that gets expensive to guess at, and this manual covers it properly. You get the pump overview, pressure tests and settings, pump and motor removal, and straight tracking. Charge and port pressures are listed, so you test before you start swapping parts.
The rest of the dozer is in here too. That includes engine removal, fuel and cooling, SCR with DEF/AdBlue, the parking brake, blade and ripper hydraulics, and the undercarriage from track tension to final drives. Cab climate control, wiring schematic sheets, connector pin tables and fault codes for the engine, drive and SCR dosing are also covered.
Every day a dozer sits parked, you lose rental money or a bid. Print the sections you need and take them to the machine.

Case 2050M Common Problems This Manual Covers
Parking brake will not release
Start with hydrostatic charge pressure, because the pressure switch only closes at 11.4 to 12.8 Bar (165 to 185 psi). Then measure the brake solenoid coil between pins 1 and 2. It should read 41.8 ohms at 25 °C (77 °F). Check the ground circuit and look for 24 volts on the solenoid supply wire. If all of that checks out, replace the solenoid.
Manual Section: Brakes and controls - Brake pedal control valve - Testing - Brake release solenoid p. 300Ground drive stuck in limp home mode from the seat switch circuit
An open or short in the seat switch circuit puts the drive into limp home. Check the seat switch wiring for an open or short first, then the switch itself, then the controller. To reset it, sit in the seat, turn the ignition OFF, and cycle the parking brake from engaged to disengaged.
Manual Section: Fault codes - Seat switch p. 1164Engine oil pressure too low warning
Work through the causes in the manual's order. Check the engine oil level first, then the engine lubrication system, then the electrical wiring. After that, test the oil temperature / pressure sensor. Leave the engine controller, its supply voltages and grounds for last.
Manual Section: Fault codes - Oil pressure too low p. 1289Air conditioning compressor belt loose or slipping
Set a new belt to 422 to 516 N (95 to 115 lbs). After ten minutes of run-in, reset it to 400 to 489 N (90 to 110 lbs). Replace a worn belt, and tighten or replace any loose or cracked brackets. A seized compressor will also make the belt slip, so check that too. Clutch air gap should be 0.41 to 0.79 mm (0.016 to 0.031 inch).
Manual Section: Air conditioning compressor - Problem solving p. 742Frequently Asked Questions
What engine does the Case 2050M have and how much power does it make?
The 2050M runs the F4HFE613J*A017, a turbocharged, water cooled six cylinder of 6.7 l (409 in³). At 2200 RPM it makes 173 kW (235 Hp) gross and 160 kW (218 Hp) net. Maximum net peak torque is 1004 N·m (741 lb ft) at 1500 RPM. p. 73
How much fuel, DEF, engine oil and coolant does the Case 2050M hold?
The fuel tank holds 405 L (107 US gal) of diesel to ASTM D975 grade No. 2. The DEF/AdBlue tank holds 52 L (14 US gal). An engine oil change with filter takes 16.4 L (17.3 US qt) of CASE AKCELA UNITEK NO. 1 SBL CJ-4 SAE 10W-40. The cooling system holds 38.0 L (10.0 US gal) of 50% water and 50% coolant. Each final drive takes 25.0 L (26.4 US qt). p. 70
How tight should the tracks be on a Case 2050M?
Park on level ground and stop with a pin over the front carrier roller. Lay a straightedge along the track and measure the sag to the grouser at the front, middle and rear. Those three added together should come to 44.50 to 58.00 mm (1.75 to 2.25 in). Pump grease into the adjuster fitting to tighten the track. To slacken it, loosen the ball check, then torque the ball check back to 49 to 68 N·m (36 to 50 lb ft). p. 570
When do the oil, filters and valve clearance need service on a Case 2050M?
The maintenance chart puts engine oil, the oil filter and the fuel filter at every 500 hours. Final drive oil comes every 1000 hours. Engine valve clearance and the drive belt are due every 1500 hours, and engine coolant every 2000 hours. p. 48
What hydrostatic pressures should a Case 2050M show when testing the drive?
Test with the oil at 49 to 63 °C (120 to 145 °F) and the engine at 2000 rpm. Charge pressure should read 32 bar (464 psi) on the left track and 39 bar (566 psi) on the right. Each forward and reverse pump port should hit 480 bar (6960 psi). Travel speed is infinitely variable from 0.0 to 9.8 km/h (0.0 to 6.1 mph) in both directions. p. 261
