Part of the Case Repair Manuals.
The Case factory service manual is the dealer-shop book for the 580N EP Tier 4B (final) tractor loader backhoe, in both 2WD and 4WD. It covers the 3.4 l turbo diesel, power shuttle, both axles and brakes. It also covers loader and backhoe hydraulics, steering, A/C, cab and wiring.
A job usually stalls for want of one number. It might be the main relief setting with the gauge already teed in, or the wheel bolt torque with the tire already hung. This manual has the specs, plus hydraulic schematics for mechanical and pilot controls. It also has electrical schematic sheets, connector views and fault code troubleshooting.

Case 580N EP Common Problems This Manual Covers
Engine air filter blocked warning on the instrument cluster
This warning means the air filter restriction switch has tripped. Pull the engine air filter and inspect it first, then replace it if it is clogged. If a clean filter does not clear the warning, check for a signal wire shorted to ground, then a faulty restriction switch. The instrument cluster itself is the last suspect. The fault code section has the step-by-step checks, and the air cleaner procedure is in Engine [10].
Manual Section: Fault codes - Engine air filter blocked p. 1547Hydraulic filter blockage warning
Pull the hydraulic oil filter and look at it first, then replace it if it is clogged. If the warning stays on with a new filter, check the signal wire for a short to chassis ground. Then check the filter switch reading and finally the instrument cluster. The reservoir and filter procedures are in the hydraulic systems [35] chapter.
Manual Section: Fault codes - Hydraulic filter blockage detected p. 1553Engine oil pressure too low warning after start-up
This warning means the oil pressure switch did not actuate after the engine started. Check the oil level before anything else. Next, test the oil pressure switch and look for wiring shorted to ground. If those check out, look for genuinely low oil pressure or a blockage before you suspect the engine control unit. The lubrication procedures are in Engine [10].
Manual Section: Fault codes - Engine oil pressure too low p. 1676Water in fuel warning
The engine control unit has detected either water in the fuel or a fault in the water in fuel switch circuit. Purge the fuel supply system and replace the fuel filters. Refill with water-free fuel and run the engine for 5 minutes. If the warning comes back, replace the water in fuel switch. The fuel filter procedures are in Engine [10].

What engine does the Case 580N EP have and how much power does it make?
It has a 3.4 l (207.5 in³) four cylinder turbocharged diesel built to Tier 4B (final). At 2200 RPM it makes 55 kW (75 Hp) gross. Net power is 51 kW (69 Hp) with the 39 ° fan or 53.5 kW (72.7 Hp) with the viscous fan. Gross peak torque is 316 N·m (233 lb ft) at 1400 RPM. p. 75
How much fuel, engine oil, coolant and hydraulic oil does a Case 580N EP hold?
The fuel tank holds 114 L (30 US gal). Engine oil with a filter change is 8.0 L (8.5 US qt) of CASE AKCELA UNITEK NO. 1 SBL CJ-4 SAE 10W-40. The cooling system holds 17.3 L (18.3 US qt) without the heater and 18.0 L (19.0 US qt) with it. The hydraulic system holds 100.0 L (105.7 US qt) in total, or 105.7 L (111.7 US qt) with Extendahoe. A reservoir refill with a filter change takes 55.0 L (58.1 US qt). p. 61
What tire pressures and wheel bolt torque does the Case 580N EP use?
Rear tire pressures are 221 kPa (32 psi) for 17.5L x 24 10PR, 193 kPa (28 psi) for 19.5L x 24 10PR and 179 kPa (26 psi) for 21L x 24 10PR. On 4WD machines the 12.5/80 x 18 front tires run at 414 kPa (60 psi). On 2WD machines the 11 x 16 front tires run at 359 kPa (52 psi). Torque the rear wheel bolts to 136 N·m (100 lb ft) in the first pass and 271 N·m (200 lb ft) in the second. Then turn each bolt an additional 30 °. p. 1131
How often do I change the coolant and the transmission fluid on a Case 580N EP?
Drain, flush and refill the engine coolant every 4000 hours or every year, whichever comes first. Do not add supplemental coolant additives to the extended life coolant. Every 1000 hours, change the transmission fluid and filter, clean the transmission breather and inspect the suction filter. p. 214
What hydraulic pump flow and relief pressures does the Case 580N EP run?
The pump is a Parker P330 single section gear pump rated at 115 l/min (30.5 US gpm) at 2200 RPM. The main relief high setting is 231 bar (3350 psi) with mechanical backhoe controls and 255 bar (3700 psi) with pilot controls. Steering relief is 162 bar (2349 psi). Check which control type the machine has before you set the main relief. p. 657
