This is the factory 3-volume dealer workshop manual for the Fendt Favorit F390 GTA, F395 GTA and F395 GHA tool carriers built from 1985 to 1993, the ones with the air-cooled Deutz six. It walks you through pulling the engine, splitting the tractor for the double clutch, stripping the gearbox and the 40 km/h gear locking, resealing front axle swivel joints and testing the hydrostatic steering with the priority valve. Hydraulics get full coverage including pressure tests and the electronic EPC lift-gear, plus circuit diagrams, cab removal, heater, air compressor with trailer control valve, and air conditioning down to evacuation and filling. Capacities are all in here: 17.0 Ltr. engine oil, 18.0 Ltr. transmission, 35.0 Ltr. hydraulic oil.

Fendt F390 GTA, F395 GTA, F395 GHA Common Problems This Manual Covers
Oil leaking from the front axle swivel joints, dropping the diff level over a season
Follow the swivel joint sealing procedure in the Front Axle volume: strip the joint, renew the seals, then refill the front axle differential gear with 7.0 Ltr. and each hub drive with 0.75 Ltr. as specified.
Manual Section: Front Axle - Swivel joint sealingClutch drags or slips, gears crunch going in, PTO will not disengage cleanly
The Transmission volume walks through splitting the tractor, removing and inspecting the double clutch, and setting the adjustment on reassembly. The PTO mechanism procedures are in the same section, so check its engagement parts while the tractor is apart.
Manual Section: Transmission - Drive clutch and double clutchSteering feels heavy at idle or wanders, especially with a loader or front implement fitted
Run the hydrostatic steering test procedure in the Steering volume to measure pump output and check the priority valve, which splits flow between steering and hydraulics. The section then covers repair of the geared pump, steering unit and steering pillar.
Manual Section: Steering - Hydrostatic steering testing and priority valveAir system slow to build pressure, or moisture and freezing problems in the trailer brake circuit in winter
The Compressor volume covers air compressor overhaul, pressure regulation settings, the drainage valve and the trailer control valve. It also covers the anti-freeze pump, which takes 0.5 Ltr. and is the usual cure for iced brake lines in cold weather.
Manual Section: Compressor (Air System) - Pressure regulation and anti-freeze pumpFrequently Asked Questions
Does this manual cover splitting the tractor to replace the double clutch?
Yes. The Transmission volume covers the drive clutch and double clutch step by step, including separating the tractor, clutch removal and refitting, and adjustment. Gearbox disassembly and the PTO mechanism are in the same volume, so if you find worn gears or a rough PTO engagement while you are in there, you are covered without buying anything else.
Is it safe to open hydraulic lines on these tractors with the engine off?
Not without relieving pressure first. The pressure pipes and accumulators at the central control block can hold up to 200 bar with the engine shut down. The Hydraulics section gives the correct depressurizing procedure before any work on the control valve, lift-gear or EPC components. Skip that step and you risk a burst fitting or an oil injection injury. Read it before you crack a single union.
My front axle swivel joints are weeping oil. Does the manual show the reseal?
Yes, swivel joint sealing is one of the main jobs in the Front Axle volume, along with complete front axle removal and the 100% differential lock. It also gives the fill quantities you need afterwards: 7.0 Ltr. for the front axle differential gear and 0.75 Ltr. per hub drive. Leaking swivel joints are a known wear point on tractors that have spent years on the front loader.
Are wiring diagrams included, and do they cover the electronic bits like the EPC linkage?
Yes. The Electrical volume has full circuit diagrams for lighting, signals, electronic indicators and the comfort controls, plus fault tables for tracing problems methodically. The electronic EPC lift components are handled in the Hydraulics section with their own test procedures. Keep in mind this is a mechanically injected air-cooled Deutz with no engine ECU, so engine troubleshooting is done with gauges and test values, not a scan tool.
Does one manual cover the F390 GTA, F395 GTA and F395 GHA, or do I need separate books?
One manual covers all three. The F390 GTA runs the Deutz F6L 912 F and the F395 the F6L 913, and the manual references the engine repair data for both, with the GTA/GHA drive variant differences called out where procedures split. Removal and fitting of the engine, glow starter testing and the oil sump assembly apply across the range.
