Written for the Kawasaki 30ZV-2, 40ZV-2A and 42ZV-2 wheel loaders, this operator manual PDF (OEM ID 93103-00012) runs 267 pages across all three machines. Maintenance fills more than a third of the book. It includes a guide table that sets service intervals by hour meter, plus greasing points, transmission and axle oil changes, HST and return filter replacement, air bleeding for the hydraulic and fuel systems, fan belt tension, brake checks and tire pressure. Before that, the operator's station chapter explains the monitor panel one indicator at a time, then covers the loader control lever, bucket auto leveler, articulation lock bar and the emergency towing procedure. At a transmission oil change, refill with 1.5 L (0.4 gal) of API 10W Class CD, and torque 19 mm hydraulic fittings to 29 N·m (22 ft·lb). Some days it's you, the loader, and nobody to ask. The file is bookmarked and text-searchable, and it prints clean, so the service pages can sit on your bench and take the grease.

Kawasaki 30ZV-2, 40ZV-2A, 42ZV-2 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Kawasaki 30ZV-2/40ZV-2A/42ZV-2 loader front and travel functions inoperable, hydraulic pump noise level increases

Check the hydraulic oil level with the bucket lowered to the ground (page 36) and refill per page 251; the tank holds 33 L (page 182). Wear a face shield or goggles near hoses, since aging rubber hoses can cause fluid injection into skin (page 39). If the pump is faulty or a suction pipe or hose is broken, consult your nearest authorized dealer.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System Troubleshooting p. 251
Engine cooling system on the wheel loader shows coolant temperature too high

Check the coolant level only after the engine is cool; never remove the radiator cap hot (page 38). Add coolant if low, clean a plugged radiator screen, and clean the radiator and oil cooler cores following page 250. Flush the cooling system if passages are dirty. For a loose fan V-belt, damaged hose, thermostat or gauge fault, consult your authorized dealer.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 250
Starter motor does not rotate at all when turning the key switch

Check that the forward/reverse selector lever is in neutral, since the starter will not rotate in forward or reverse (page 250). Charge or replace weak batteries. If you jump start, make it a two-person job with the operator seated, and never use a frozen battery (page 20). A blown slow blow fuse link (75 A, page 86) or high resistance at the battery and starter terminals calls for your authorized dealer.

Manual Section: Engine Starting Troubleshooting p. 250
Engine cranks and runs but running speed stays low and stalls easily

Check fuel quality first and replace poor fuel with good quality fuel. Replace a clogged fuel filter, clean the feed pump strainer, and bleed air from the fuel supply line following page 250. Change deteriorated engine oil to the capacity listed for your model on page 159. A contaminated injection nozzle needs your authorized dealer.

Manual Section: Engine Starting Troubleshooting p. 250
Service brake fluid keeps decreasing at the daily brake oil level check

Check the brake oil level following the brake system maintenance section starting on page 207, then inspect the brake line and hose connectors for leaks. Retightening or repairing those connectors, and any leak from the brake piston seal inside the axle, are dealer jobs per page 252. Consult your authorized dealer and verify brake performance after repair.

Manual Section: Drive Function Troubleshooting p. 252
During forward and reverse travel across the job site, the transmission becomes noisy

Check the transmission oil level and condition with the engine stopped and cooled (page 35), then refill or replace deteriorated gear oil following page 252. Fill with API 10W Class CD (page 165); the change quantity is 1.5 L (page 159). If noise remains, worn inner parts or a broken gear or bearing need your authorized dealer.
