Check battery voltage first — a cold-morning no-start on this machine is the battery 80% of the time. Inspect terminals and cables for corrosion, confirm mounting bolt torque of 34 to 40.1 N·m (page 63). If the engine fires briefly then stalls, drain and inspect the fuel system for contamination; the fuel filter filtration area is 2000 cm² (page 31) and replacement is due every 500 hours or annually (page 38). Cross-reference the engine failure diagnostic list starting for electrics, fuel, and starter circuit faults.

Start by verifying hydraulic oil level against the 25 L tank capacity (page 28). Pull and inspect both the suction filter (100 micron, 550 cm²) and return filter (15 micron, 3000 cm²); the return filter bypass valve opens at 0.15 MPa, meaning a clogged element will starve the whole circuit before you see a warning. Replace return filter at 500 hours or annually (page 38). If fluid and filters check out, run the pump troubleshooting sequence — cover insufficient volume and abnormal sounds before pulling valves.

Measure rubber track sag at the mid-span: correct clearance H is 8 to 13 mm (0.3 to 0.5 in.) per page 54. Adjust grease tension at the idler until you hit that window, then recheck after 30 minutes of operation as new tension settles. If tension is correct and deviation persists, move to the travel motor troubleshooting table — check for low motor speed on one side and inspect for cavitation sounds, which indicate internal wear or a circuit restriction.

Identify the fitting standard before you touch it: this machine uses BSPP (G/PF) parallel and taper threads plus UN fittings. Torque a G 3/4 parallel fitting to 106 to 129 N·m; a taper 1/2 fitting to 39.2 to 49.0 N·m (page 69). Do not overtighten BSPP threads — they seal on a face seal or bonded washer, not thread crush. Shut down and let the machine cool, then inspect the radiator and cooling pack for mud or debris packed between fins. Clean with low-pressure water or compressed air from the engine side outward. Verify coolant level against the engine oil capacity reference on page 40 — the 3TNV82A-BPBVA engine (page 30) is sensitive to air pockets after a top-up, so bleed the system with the cap loose before running. Check engine coolant temperature sensor fault codes starting if overheating continues after a clean cooling pack.

Inspect the pilot valve circuits first: air in the hydraulic system causes exactly this symptom and will not set an error code. Follow the air release procedure for hydraulic equipment on pages 12 to 20 before pulling any valves. If response is sluggish on one axis only, check the control valve troubleshooting table for cylinder drift and relief valve condition. Confirm hydraulic oil is clean and at the correct level (25 L tank, page 28) — contamination at 100 microns or finer will reach the pilot circuit before the suction filter catches it.
