Part of the New Holland Operator Manuals.
The New Holland T1520 Operator Manual PDF puts your tractor on the factory service schedule, reproducing the 103-page Operator Manual (OEM 87473223) from first start-up through the delivery service checks. Wiring diagrams trace the electrical circuits for the day a starter or light circuit goes dead, and the controls and instruments chapter explains every gauge, lever and brake control before you take the tractor out. Lubrication and maintenance procedures handle fuel and lubricant service, the air cleaner and cooling system, while the delivery checklist covers tire pressure, battery and hydraulic system checks. Set fan belt deflection at 5-10 mm (0.20-0.40 in) and hold clutch pedal free travel to 19-30 mm (3/4 to 1-3/16 in). Bookmarked, text-searchable pages take you to the battery spec, a 12-volt negative-ground 420 cca BCI Group 24, so the replacement you order fits first time.

New Holland T1520 Common Problems This Manual Covers
New Holland T1520 engine will not crank when turning the key, starter motor does not engage
Verify the rear and mid PTO levers are OFF, the range lever is in NEUTRAL, and the clutch pedal is fully depressed. The key switch blocks the starter and fuel delivery otherwise, as shown on page 26. Start only from the operator's seat and never bypass the neutral start switches (page 9). Do not engage the starter continuously for more than 30 seconds.
Manual Section: Starting the Engine p. 26Battery charge warning light stays lit or comes on during tractor operation
Investigate the charging system immediately, because the battery can fully discharge (page 24). With the engine off, check that the battery electrolyte sits 6.35 mm (1/4 in) above the plates following page 71. Explosive gas forms while the alternator charges, so keep open flame and smoking away. Confirm the battery is 12-volt, negative ground, 420 cca BCI Group 24 (page 89).
Manual Section: Battery Charge Warning Light p. 24Temperature gauge needle moves into the red range while working in the field
Stop the engine immediately (page 24). Once it is cold, cover the radiator cap with a thick cloth and turn it slowly to the first stop to release pressure (page 66). Add 50/50 antifreeze solution if coolant sits more than 4 cm (1-1/2 in) below the reservoir upper level. Clean chaff from the radiator fins and prescreen following page 67. Never remove the thermostat to improve cooling (page 68).
Manual Section: Cooling System Maintenance p. 66Air cleaner restriction warning light illuminates with the engine running and key switch ON
Shut off the engine and disengage all drives before opening the hood, per page 52. Open the end cap latches, rotate the cap counterclockwise, and remove the outer primary element following page 61. Clean or replace the element. The light trips at approximately 20 inches of vacuum (page 24), so a lit lamp means the engine is starving for air.
Manual Section: Air Cleaner Restriction Warning Light p. 24Engine cranks but will not start after running out of fuel or changing the fuel filter
Make sure the tank has fuel, open the fuel shutoff valve, and open the bleed screw at the pump until air-free fuel flows, then close it (page 60). With the hand throttle wide open, loosen the injector line fittings, crank until air-free fuel appears, and tighten to 15-24 N·m (11-17.8 ft-lb) per page 61. Check for leaks with cardboard, never your hand, since injection fuel penetrates skin (page 60). Crank no longer than 30 seconds.
Manual Section: Bleeding the Fuel System p. 59Fan belt loose, deflecting more than 10 mm under thumb pressure midway between pulleys
Stop the engine first. Never loosen or tighten the mounting bolts with it running (page 69). Apply 5 kg (11 lb) of thumb pressure midway between the pulleys and measure 5-10 mm (0.20-0.40 in) of deflection. If the belt is slack, pry the alternator away from the engine, tighten the mounting bolts, and recheck deflection. Inspect belt condition every 50 hours so it holds through the season.
Manual Section: Fan Belt Tension p. 69Frequently Asked Questions
What are the torque specifications for the New Holland T1520 wheel lugs?
The front wheel torque specification is 115 N·m (85 ft-lb). The rear wheel torque specification is 129 N·m (95 ft-lb). p. 77
How do I bleed the fuel system on a New Holland T1520?
To bleed the fuel system, first ensure there is adequate fuel in the tank and open the fuel shutoff valve. Then, open the bleed screw at the pump until air-free fuel flows and close it. Finally, push the hand throttle to the high speed position and crank the engine for a few seconds to bleed the high pressure fuel tubes. p. 60
What are the replacement specifications for the engine oil and oil filter on the New Holland T1520?
Change the engine oil and filter after the first 50 hours of operation, then every 100 hours thereafter. If the tractor is operated under continuous, severe operating conditions, change the oil and filter at 70-hour intervals. p. 57
What is the correct valve clearance for the T1520 engine?
The valve clearance for both the intake and exhaust valves on the T1520 engine is 0.20 mm (0.008 in) when cold. p. 88
What is the capacity of the fuel tank for the T1520?
The fuel tank capacity for the T1520 is 7.1 U.S. gallons (27.0 liters). p. 88
Is this New Holland T1520 manual a PDF I download?
Delivery is instant: a 103-page searchable PDF is yours the second checkout clears. Laptop, tablet, or phone, all fine.
Can I print a copy of this New Holland T1520 Operator Manual for the shop?
