A filter run past its hour mark or a lift beyond the chart sends a compact excavator to the shop on a trailer. Takeuchi's answer for the TB014 and TB016 is operator manual AC4E029, 214 factory pages supplied here as a Takeuchi TB014, TB016 operator manual PDF. Lifting capacity charts and operating range dimensions fill much of the specifications chapter, so you can check what the arm holds at a given reach. Safety precautions, control layout, rubber crawler care, trailer loading, and breaker and telescopic arm work get plain factory instructions. Fill the TB014 oil pan to 3.0 L (2.8 L on the TB016), change the engine oil filter at 50 hours and every 250 after, and replace the hydraulic return filter every 500 hours. A made-up torque figure shears bolts and strips threads. Bookmarks make screen lookups quick, and you can print the maintenance chart and let it collect oily thumbprints at your bench.

Takeuchi TB014, TB016 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Takeuchi TB014 TB016 coolant temperature warning lamp on, engine slowing down and steam from engine room
Check for steam with the engine hood closed. Do not open the hood, and do not remove the radiator cap while hot (page 141). If there is steam, stop the engine and contact a Takeuchi sales or service outlet. If not, run at low idle until the warning clears, stop, let it cool, then check fan belt slack, coolant level and leaks. Clean the radiator fins at no more than 200 kPa (28 psi), per page 122.
Manual Section: Engine Overheating p. 141During operation, the battery charge warning lamp starts flashing or stays lit on the panel
Inspect the fan belt for slack or breakage with the machine parked in a safe place and the engine stopped. Adjust it following page 116; on a TB014, set slack to 5 to 7 mm (0.2 to 0.28 in). If the lamp still flashes or lights after that, the charger is at fault. Consult a Takeuchi sales or service outlet (page 145).
Manual Section: Warning Lamp Lights p. 145Engine oil pressure warning lamp flashing or lit during operation, even with oil level normal
Check the engine oil level first after parking the machine in a safe place, and top up if it is low (page 145). If the lamp keeps flashing or stays lit with the level normal, or still lights after adding oil, stop there and consult a Takeuchi sales or service outlet.
Manual Section: Warning Lamp Lights p. 145Starter motor turns but engine does not start after running out of fuel
Fill the tank only with the engine stopped and cool. Never remove the fuel cap or refuel with the engine running or hot (page 12). Open the water separator and fuel filter cocks, then hold the starter key at ON for about 20 seconds so the automatic air bleeder purges the air (page 143). Start the engine and inspect for fuel leakage. If there is water in the fuel, drain it (page 147).
Manual Section: Fuel System (After running out) p. 143Hoe attachment, slewing or traveling operation not possible, or digging force is noticeably insufficient
Check the hydraulic oil level and top it up to the prescribed level, then run the warm-up procedure on page 70 to heat the oil. Clean a clogged air cleaner following page 123 with dried compressed air at 294 to 490 kPa (43 to 71 psi), and wear safety glasses and a filter mask while doing it (page 10). Replace the hydraulic oil if it is not a suitable type.
Manual Section: Other Symptoms p. 146Machine does not travel straight forward, or the rubber crawlers slip off the undercarriage
Inspect the crawlers for stones or foreign objects stuck in them and remove them. Never put your hands or feet between the upperstructure and the undercarriage or tracks (page 13). Next, check crawler tension. Loose crawlers slip off, and incorrect tension stops the machine tracking straight, so adjust to the prescribed tension using the troubleshooting table on page 147.
Manual Section: Other Symptoms p. 147Frequently Asked Questions
