Your Takeuchi mini excavator has a slack track and a 250-hour service coming due, and both answers are in this 235-page Takeuchi TB216 operator manual PDF, OEM ID AC6E006. Maintenance takes up roughly a quarter of the book and runs by hour interval, from the 10-hour daily check through the 4000-hour hydraulic oil change, with the fuel and lubricant table, consumables list and tightening torques grouped up front. The controls chapter explains each warning lamp and the multi-data display, while the specifications section finishes with lifting capacity charts, machine dimensions and operating ranges. Adjust until the rubber crawler gap reads 59 to 64 mm, and run hydraulic oil to 4000 hours only if it is Takeuchi genuine 46; conventional antiwear oil comes out at 2000. Guess wrong and you buy a pump. Bookmarks and a live text layer take you from the safety chapter to the slew bearing grease interval in seconds.

Takeuchi TB216 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Takeuchi TB216 engine overheating with coolant temperature warning lamp flashing on the dash during operation
Stop the engine and allow the machine to cool down before you check anything, then check coolant level, fan belt and radiator fins following the overheating procedure on page 193. Clean packed mud and debris out of the fins before you assume anything bigger. The cooling system holds 3.8 L (4.0 US qt.) per page 139, so if it takes most of that to refill, check the cooling system for leaks.
Manual Section: If the engine overheats p. 193arm and bucket speed varying, with slew motor, travel motor or control valve noise
Check the symptoms that are not malfunctions list on page 192 before you tear into anything. Arm speed, bucket speed, slew motor noise, travel motor noise and control valve noise are covered there. If what you hear or see matches, keep the crew working; if it does not, move to the Other symptoms checks for levers and digging force.
Manual Section: Symptoms that are not malfunctions p. 192rubber or steel crawler track running loose with track gap out of specification
Measure the crawler gap following page 161. Rubber crawlers should read 59 to 64 mm (2.3 to 2.5 in.); steel crawlers 95 to 110 mm (3.7 to 4.3 in.). Adjust tension at the grease discharge valve, then torque the valve to 177 N·m (130 ft-lb.) before putting the machine back to work. Loosen the grease discharge valve slowly and never more than one turn.
Manual Section: Maintenance p. 161battery gone dead and engine will not start when turning the starter key
Always wear the protective goggle when jump starting the engine. Connect the jumper cables in the order given in the If the battery goes dead procedure in the Troubleshooting section, then start the engine the way that procedure describes. Recharge the battery once the machine is running again. If the battery charge warning lamp flashes after startup, check the warning lamp section before you go back to digging.
Manual Section: If the battery goes dead p. 194fuse box fuse blown and the electrical circuit it protects has stopped working
Turn the starter key to the OFF position first. Inspect the fuses in the fuse box and replace the blown one, matching it against the fuse layout and circuits in the If a fuse blows section of Troubleshooting. Identify which circuit the fuse feeds before you pull it. If the circuit is still dead with a good fuse, inspect the fusible link next.
Manual Section: If a fuse blowsafter running the fuel tank dry and refilling it, the engine will not restart
Never remove the fuel cap or add fuel when the engine is running or still hot. Fill the tank first; it holds 22 L (5.8 US gal.) per page 139. Then bleed air from the fuel system following the Restarting after adding fuel procedure in the Troubleshooting section before you grind the starter. Watch the fuel level warning lamp so the tank does not run dry again.
Manual Section: Restarting after adding fuelFrequently Asked Questions
How do I bleed air from the hydraulic system on a Takeuchi TB216?
After replacing hydraulic oil or devices, bleed air from the hydraulic pump by loosening the vent plug (1) until oil overflows. For cylinders, run the engine at low idle for 10 minutes, then extend and retract each cylinder 4 or 5 times without reaching the stroke end. Finally, run at high speed and repeat, then finish by cycling all cylinders to their stroke ends at low idle. p. 181
How do I adjust the track tension on a Takeuchi TB216?
To increase tension, inject grease through the grease fitting (3) of the grease discharge valve (2) using a grease gun. To decrease tension, slowly loosen the grease discharge valve (2) by one turn to discharge grease. The gap between the bottom surface of the frame and the top surface of the crawler should be 59 to 64 mm (2.3 to 2.5 in.) for rubber crawlers. p. 161
What are the replacement specifications for hydraulic hoses and hose seals on the Takeuchi TB216?
Hydraulic hoses for the main body and working equipment should be replaced every 2 years. When replacing these hoses, it is required to replace the O-rings and seals at the same time. p. 144
What is the engine oil capacity for the Takeuchi TB216?
The engine oil pan has an upper limit capacity of 2.8 L (3.0 US qt.) and a lower limit capacity of 1.5 L (1.6 US qt.). p. 139
What is the tightening torque for the bucket teeth bolts on a Takeuchi TB216?
When installing bucket teeth, the bolt should be tightened to a torque of 102 N·m (75.2 ft-lb). p. 183
