Which hour-meter mark calls for a lift chain check, what a truck carries at a given load center, and which fluid goes where: Utilev publication 76500009 settles it in 145 pages, an operator manual for six internal combustion counterbalanced forklift models. This Utilev UT40P, UT45P, UT50PS, UT50P, UT60P, UT70P operator manual PDF ties each daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual check to the hour meter (8, 40, 166, 1,000 and 2,000 hours), backed by fluid use and lubrication charts. Wiring diagrams trace the optional operator presence system through its seat belt, park brake and hydraulic interlocks, and separate chapters cover your LPG regulator, mixer and shut-off valves plus the lead-acid battery. Replace the air filter element every 100 to 300 hours and run the front wheel nuts to 441-588 N·m. Guessing wheel nut torque costs studs, or a wheel. Bookmarked and text-searchable, it is yours after one purchase, kept for as long as you run this truck.

Utilev UT40P to UT70P Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

Utilev UT40P to UT70P engine running hot mid-shift with coolant temperature reading in the overheat range

Run the engine at low speed rather than shutting it off, and open the engine cover for ventilation (page 65), keeping your body out from under the hood while it runs (page 27). Shut down once coolant temperature drops, then check and top up coolant, never opening the radiator cap above 70 °C (page 28). Clean clogged radiator fins with compressed air, steam, or water at a right angle, wearing goggles.

Manual Section: Engine Overheating p. 65
Engine failure warning light on with reduced power and fault code showing on the display

Shut the engine down for inspection. With the key at ON, set the Engine diagnostics check switch to ON; [E] lights and [F] shows the fault code (page 14). Page through extra faults with the Engine check turn page switch and repair against the fault list. Then switch diagnostics off, key OFF, and wait 30 seconds before restarting.

Manual Section: Engine Fault Diagnostics p. 14
Engine cranks on the key switch but will not start after several attempts

Verify the directional control lever is in neutral before cranking (page 16). Hold the key at START no longer than 5 seconds; if it fails, turn the key OFF and wait 2 minutes, per page 71. On a warm gasoline engine, do not floor or pump the gas pedal. After three consecutive failed attempts, stop and contact an authorized technician.

Manual Section: Operation p. 71
LPG smell or gas leak at the cylinder or fuel lines while operating

Close the gas cylinder outlet shut-off valve fully and immediately, then request an LPG system inspection by an authorized service technician (page 18). Do not repair the LPG unit yourself; page 134 forbids it. Never use an open flame or smoke when checking for leaks (page 32). Going forward, check the cylinder and lines for leaks before every drive.

Manual Section: Fuel System Troubleshooting p. 18
Drained engine oil at the oil and filter change looks milky or very thin

Contact an authorized service technician if the oil is milky; that means coolant has infiltrated it (page 54). Very thin oil indicates gasoline contamination. Keep clear of the hot draining oil to avoid burns. Torque the drain plug to 29 to 39 N·m, hand-tighten the new filter only, then start the engine and check for leaks (page 55).

Manual Section: Engine Oil and Filter Maintenance p. 54
Maintenance-free battery built-in capacity indicator has turned white or red instead of green

Charge the battery if the indicator is white. If red, the electrolyte is seriously deficient: inspect the housing for breaks or leaks per page 137 and replace a faulty battery. Charge in a well-ventilated open area, never with the engine running, with the ground cable disconnected and charger switched off while connecting (page 139). Wear goggles and keep tools off the terminals (page 140).

Manual Section: Battery Maintenance and Inspection p. 137

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset engine fault codes on the forklift?

To view and clear engine faults, set the "Engine diagnostics check" switch to "ON" while the start switch is in the "ON" position. Fault codes will be displayed by lights [E] and [F]. Once the faults are repaired, the lights will go out. Turn off the diagnostic switch, turn the key to "OFF," and wait 30 seconds before restarting. p. 14

What are the torque specifications for wheel nuts on the Utilev UT40P to UT70P Series forklift?

For the drive wheels (front wheels), the wheel nuts must be tightened to 441-588 N·m. For the steering wheels (rear wheels), the wheel nuts must be tightened to 363-490 N·m. p. 52

What is the recommended interval for replacing the engine oil and oil filter on the Utilev UT40P to UT70P Series?

The engine oil and oil filter should be replaced for the first time after the initial break-in period, and then every 500 hours thereafter. p. 54

What is the correct procedure for checking the engine oil level?

Place the forklift on level ground, set the parking brake, lower the forks to the ground, and turn off the engine. Check the oil when the engine is cool by removing the dipstick, wiping it clean, re-inserting it, and drawing it out again to ensure the level is between the two measurement lines. p. 43

What is the required fan belt tension for the QSB3.3 and GM 4.3L engines?

With the engine off, apply 6 kg of downward force between the two belt pulleys. The movement for the QSB3.3 engine should be less than or equal to 10 mm, and for the GM 4.3L engine, it should be less than or equal to 13 mm. p. 49
