This 754-page Valtra service manual covers the M and T Series tractors: M120, M130 and M150, plus T120 through T190. The electrical section alone runs from page 119 to 392 and carries the wiring diagrams for the whole range, which is what most of these repairs come down to. Around it you get the engine (cylinder block, head and valves), the power transmission with its clutch, gearbox and reverse shuttle, the brake system with its technical data, the steering and front axle, the frame and wheels, and the hydraulic system with its pressures and settings.

Valtra M120-M150, T120-T190 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Valtra T130 PTO shaft end oil seal leaking, gear oil dripping onto drivetrain components

Remove the PTO shaft seal retainer circlip and press out the failed cassette seal as detailed on page 512. Inspect the retainer o-ring for hardening and replace if worn. Coat the power take-off-gearbox sealing face with Hylosil RTV Grade 102 Black per page 404, fit the new cassette seal, then measure retainer play with a dial gauge before final reassembly.

Manual Section: T Series Power Transmission p. 512
Output shaft to transmission oil seal failure, gear oil weeping past the housing joint

Drain the gearbox and split the housing to reach the output shaft, following the Power Transmission section starting page 393. Replace both O-rings on the DPS input shaft noted on page 397, since that cavity runs under lubrication pressure and a hardened O-ring will seep steadily. Coat the reverse shuttle-gearbox mating face with Hylosil RTV Grade 102 Black from page 404 before torquing the housing back together.

Manual Section: T Series Power Transmission p. 397
Engine won't start or throws unrecognized fault codes after a DPM firmware update

Pull the code from the error code reference beginning and confirm it matches a known DPM entry. Verify battery voltage holds steady at 12 V during crank per the spec on page 124, since a weak battery drops DPM communication mid-update and mimics a no-start. If the code isn't in the standard table, cross-check it against DPM manual V39249214, since that manual covers module-specific codes this manual doesn't list.

Manual Section: T Series Electrical
Hard steering with continual correction needed and noticeable vibration through the wheel

Work through the steering troubleshooting procedures beginning to separate a pump problem from a valve problem. Clean the shock valves first and check for internal bypass before condemning any seals. Inspect the priority valve and steering cylinder bore for scoring, then bleed the circuit completely, since trapped air produces the same vibration symptom as a worn pump.

Manual Section: T Series Steering & Front Axle
Power lift locks up and ignores the lift/lower switch, diagnostic light stays lit

Identify the fault level from the power lift fault code list on page 347. For a level 1 lockout, repair the underlying fault, restart the tractor, and reactivate the power lift. For a level 2 fault, repair the fault and reactivate using the lift/lower switch itself, then cycle the switch again to confirm the diagnostic light goes out before returning the tractor to service.

Manual Section: T Series Hyd System p. 347
Excessive brake pedal free play before both pedals engage evenly

Latch both brake pedals together and check free travel; it should measure 70-80 mm per the spec on page 521. Adjust the master cylinder pushrod clearance and rear pedal free travel following the foot brake adjustment procedures beginning page 519. Bleed the system afterward to clear any air drawn in during the adjustment before road-testing pedal feel.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to reset Valtra M120 engine error code?

To delete fault codes from memory, press the DPS pre-programming button for over 4 seconds and then switch the power off. If fault codes are not deleted, escape the fault memory mode by switching off the current. This procedure is applicable to Autocontrol 5.3 systems found in Valtra M120 tractors. p. 138

How to reset Valtra T190 transmission fault?

To delete fault codes from memory, press the DPS pre-programming button for over 4 seconds and then switch the power off. If fault codes are not deleted, escape the fault memory mode by switching off the current. This procedure is applicable to Autocontrol 6.1 systems found in Valtra T190 tractors. p. 262

Torque specs for Valtra M130 wheel bolts?

The recommended tightening torque for wheel nuts on Valtra M130 tractors is 550 Nm for both front 4WD and rear wheels. This specification is listed in the common technical specifications for T120-T190 and M120-M150 models. p. 35

Torque specs for Valtra T160 cylinder head?

The tightening torque for cylinder head bolts and nuts on Valtra T160 is 80 Nm + 90° +90°. The procedure involves a first tightening to 80 Nm, followed by two additional 90° turns. This applies to T120-T190 models. p. 66

How to reset Valtra M120 engine control unit?

To reset the engine control unit, you can choose the 'Replace all' option during the software download process. This action will erase all existing files on the control unit (TC1, TC2, EC) and then send new files to every unit, which is useful if a control unit is not functioning correctly despite having the right software. p. 387
