Case 580M, 580 Super M, 580 Super M+, 590 Super M, 590 Super M+ Common Problems This Manual Covers

Transmission oil leak and loss of drive

A loss of drive is usually a transmission oil leak that drops the fluid level and the operating pressure. Find and repair the leak, refill to the correct level, and run the transmission pressure and hydraulic stall checks against the per model spec before returning to work. The power train section covers the pressures, the stall values and the service.

Manual Section: Power Train
Engine overheating during heavy loader operation

Overheating under load points to the cooling package, airflow or the water pump. Clean the radiator and cooler cores, check the fan and shroud and the coolant condition, and test the thermostat and water pump. The engine section covers the cooling system service and the checks to isolate a persistent overheat.

Manual Section: Engine
Backhoe stabilizer will not lock

A stabilizer that will not hold is usually the stabilizer cylinder, the lock valve or a hydraulic leak. Inspect the cylinder rod and seals, check the lock valve and the circuit for internal leakage, and test the pressure against spec. The mounted equipment and hydraulics sections cover the stabilizer and lock service.
