Starting, transmission shifting, rear three point hitch, remote hydraulics, PTO and ballast setup all run end to end across the 377 pages of the Case MX100, MX110, MX120, MX135, MX150, MX170 operator manual PDF, OEM number 6-20301, written for the Maxxum MX tractor line. Tyre pressure and load capacity charts take up a long stretch of the book, letting you match rear and front rubber to the weight you are pulling. Wiring coverage traces the fuse and relay layout, and the digital instrument cluster programming walks you through distance and area functions. Fill the transmission and hydraulic system with 71 litres on the MX100 through MX135, 95 on the MX150 and MX170, and 15 litres of engine oil at a filter change. Case MX100, MX110, MX120, MX135, MX150, MX170 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Case MX150 remote hydraulics slow and weak lifting a loaded implement in the field

Check the transmission and hydraulic oil level at the sight glass with the tractor parked level, the implement lowered, and the oil warm. The capacity table on page 261 lists 95 Litres for the MX150 and MX170, so top up to the full mark, then change the hydraulic filters before you blame the pump.

Manual Section: Lubrication/Maintenance p. 261
Oil pressure warning lamp flickering on the instrument cluster at low idle after a long day

Read the dipstick with the engine shut off and the oil drained back, then top up to the full mark using the grade listed in the lubrication section starting on page 258. An oil and filter change takes 15 Litres according to page 261. Inspect the filter seal and the sender connector for weeping oil.

Manual Section: Operating Instructions p. 64
PTO will not engage or cuts out intermittently while running a baler

Retrieve the stored PTO error code with the control module procedure on page 138, then unplug, clean, and reseat the connectors behind the right hand console. Verify the driveline and shield turn free with the engine off. On tractors with front PTO, check its oil level against the 2.75 Litre capacity on page 262.

Manual Section: PTO Control Module Error Code Retrieval p. 138
Coolant temperature gauge climbing toward the red zone during hot afternoon tillage in low gear

Clean the chaff and crop trash off the radiator screen, grille, and condenser first, because a packed screen cooks a tractor fast in dry conditions. Check the coolant level in the recovery bottle only once the engine is cool. MX100, MX110, and MX120 with cab hold 19.5 Litres per page 261, so top up with the correct mix.

Manual Section: Lubrication/Maintenance p. 261
Front wheel wobble or loose wheel bolts after changing wheel spacing or adding ballast

Torque the front wheel bolts on two wheel drive axles to 190 to 217 Nm using the figures given on page 227, working across the pattern rather than around it. Recheck them after the first loaded pass and again the next morning, and inspect the studs for stretch or damaged threads before heading back out.

Manual Section: Tyres/Wheels/Spacing/Ballast p. 227

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I retrieve and clear PTO control module error codes?

To retrieve error codes, put the key in the OFF position, stand clear of the seat, engage the PTO, and turn the key to ON without starting the engine. The PTO lamp will flash the error code; count the flashes separated by a 2-second pause. To avoid erasing codes, do not move the PTO ON/OFF switch rapidly from ON to OFF. p. 138

What is the procedure for bleeding air from the fuel system?

If the fuel system has air, loosen the air screw at the fuel filter outlet fitting. Operate the hand primer pump until fuel flows without air bubbles, then tighten the screw. If the primer pump cannot be activated, turn the engine slightly. p. 295

What is the correct engine valve clearance for the MX100 to MX170 tractors?

The engine valve clearance for the intake valves is 0.25 mm (0.01 inch), and for the exhaust valves, it is 0.5 mm (0.02 inch). These adjustments must be made when the engine is not running. p. 345

What is the front wheel bolt torque spec for a 2WD Case MX100, MX110, MX120, MX135, MX150, MX170 tractor?

For 2WD tractors, the wheel to hub mounting bolts must be tightened to a torque of 190 to 217 Nm (140 to 160 lb ft). p. 227

What is the engine oil capacity for the MX100 to MX170 tractors?

The engine oil capacity with a filter change is 15 litres (3.3 UK gallons). Without a filter change, the capacity is 14.3 litres (3.1 UK gallons). p. 261

Is this Case MX100 manual a download or a disc?
