Part of the Case Repair Manuals.
Hitch, MFD and differential lock controller calibration is where most MX owners get stuck, and the Controller Systems section walks through it in order. It also covers PTO/FNR controller configuration, controller programming, and how to read hitch error codes on the diagnostic display.
Every morning the tractor sits with a dead hitch or a PTO that won't engage is a morning of baling or tillage lost. The rest of the manual covers powershift, range and creep transmissions, the shuttle valve, Danfoss/Eaton/Rexroth steering, brakes, A/C service, cab removal, and full hydraulic and electrical schematics.
Each system has its own section. You can go straight from the symptom to the Hydraulics, Transmission or Electrical chapter and get back in the field before the weather turns.

Case MX80C, MX90C, MX100C Common Problems This Manual Covers
Hitch lifts slowly, drops under load, or remote hydraulics feel weak
Start with oil level and condition, since the hydraulics share transmission oil. Then follow Hydraulic Troubleshooting and check the Charge Pump/Transfer Pump. Pressure at the pump should be 198 to 206 bar (2875 to 3000 psi) at rated engine rpm. Use the numbered hydraulic schematics to trace a stuck valve or internal leakage.
Manual Section: Hydraulics p. 18Transmission slips, shifts harshly, or won't fully engage a range
Check the HY-TRAN PLUS level first, then go through Pedal and Lever Adjustments for binding linkage or cables. If it still slips, the Powershift Transmission and Shuttle Valve procedures cover teardown. Clutch friction plates should measure 2.45 to 2.60 mm (0.096 to 0.102 inch) thick.
Manual Section: Transmission / Chassis and Mounted Equipment p. 471MFD, differential lock or hitch won't operate or won't accept calibration
Follow the Hitch/MFD/Differential Lock Controller Calibration steps in order, because skipping one step is a common reason calibration fails. If it still won't take, pull the error codes on the diagnostic display. Then check the sensors, connectors and harness grounds using the Electrical schematics and a high impedance meter.
Manual Section: Controller Systems p. 1054Hard cold starting on frosty mornings
North American tractors use Ether Start and European tractors use Thermostart, and the Electrical schematics show both circuits. Check the battery with the Battery Servicing and Testing procedure. Then look at the Fuel Tank Servicing section for water or contamination in the tank before you suspect the pre-filter or air leaks in the suction line.
Manual Section: Electrical / Fuel System p. 86Frequently Asked Questions
My hitch won't lift and there's an implement on it. Can I raise it by hand?
Yes. With the engine running, push a small drift punch into the centre of the hitch Raise or Lower solenoid, as the Hydraulics section describes. If the EHC indicator is flashing, the hitch only needs enabling. Set the UP/DOWN switch to DOWN, then turn the POSITION CONTROL knob until the control and actual hitch positions match. p. 851
The PTO dropped out after a fault and auto PTO won't come back. What's going on?
An auto PTO switch circuit error gets stored in memory, the PTO lamp flashes and the PTO is disabled. Turning the PTO control switch OFF and then ON again re-engages the PTO. Auto PTO stays locked out until you repair the circuit fault. p. 1156
What oil goes in the transmission and the front axle, and how much?
The transmission takes Case HY-TRAN PLUS, about 66.3 litres (17.5 US gal) on a refill and 71 litres from the factory. MFD axles take Case SAE 85W-140 EP gear oil to API GL-5. The MX80C differential holds 5.0 litres and the MX90C/MX100C holds 6.0 litres. Each planetary takes 0.6 litres. p. 15
Does it cover an engine rebuild or injection pump timing?
No. It covers engine removal, engine installation and cooling system filling, and it sends you to the separate engine service manual for internal work. You do get service fills: 7 litres of Case No. 1 oil with a filter change, and 17.5 litres of coolant mixed 55% water to 45% ethylene glycol. p. 15
How do I test controller switch circuits without making things worse?
Use a HIGH IMPEDANCE multimeter only. A test lamp can damage the switches. The Electrical section has the full schematics plus the harness layout with chassis ground locations. To get hitch error codes, answer NO to calibration and they show on the diagnostic display. p. 1127
