Factory workshop manual for the Fendt Farmer 310 LS, 310 LSA, 311 LS and 311 LSA built between 1984 and 1987. This is the book the Fendt dealer workshops used: engine removal and rebuild, glow-start unit testing, the full gearbox chapter covering the Turboclutch, P.T.O. clutch, driving clutch and synchro units, front axle and four wheel drive service, hydrostatic steering, the EHR electronic lifting gear with its sensors and control box, cab tilting and removal, the compressor unit with trailer brake valve, and air-conditioning service data. Circuit diagrams for the electrics are included, along with capacities you actually need at the bench, such as 9.5 litres of engine oil for the 310 and 16.4 litres for the 311.

Fendt Farmer 310 LS, Farmer 310 LSA, Farmer 311 LS, Farmer 311 LSA Common Problems This Manual Covers
EHR three-point linkage hunts, drops, or stops responding to the controls.
Work through the EHR lifting gear procedures in the Hydraulics section. Check the sensors and their signals first, then the control valves and the electronic control box, in that order, before condemning any expensive component.
Manual Section: Hydraulics - EHR lifting gear, sensors, electronic control box p. 783Heavy or wandering steering, especially at low engine revs with a loader on.
The Steering section covers the hydrostatic steering unit, the hydraulic pump and the pressure relief valve. Test pump output and relief pressure per the manual before replacing the orbital unit, and set toe-in afterwards using the given procedure.
Manual Section: Steering - Hydrostatic steering, pressure relief valve, toe-in p. 619Play or clunking in the front axle on four wheel drive models.
Follow the Front Axle section for wheel bearing adjustment, stub axle inspection and the differential gearing. It covers full front axle removal for the front wheel drive versions, which is the honest way to fix worn kingpin and bearing wear.
Manual Section: Front Axle - Wheel bearings, stub axle, front wheel drive p. 604Gears crunch going into ratio, or the shift lever pops out under load.
Use the Gearbox section on the synchro unit and gear shift mechanisms. Worn synchro rings and shift detents are the usual causes on high-hour 310s and 311s, and the manual gives the disassembly sequence and inspection points to prove it.
Manual Section: Gearbox - Synchro unit, gear shift mechanisms p. 65Frequently Asked Questions
Does this manual cover the EHR electronic lift, or just the basic hydraulics?
Both. The Hydraulics section covers the hydraulic pump and control valves plus the EHR lifting gear, including the sensors and the electronic control box. On these tractors the EHR is the part most owners cannot fix by guesswork, so having the test procedures matters. p. 783
Are the gearbox and Turboclutch procedures included? Mine slips under load.
Yes. The Gearbox section covers the Turboclutch, the driving clutch, the P.T.O. clutch, the gear shift mechanisms and the synchro unit, with removal and assembly steps. A slipping Turboclutch on a 310/311 is a strip-down job, and this is the only book that walks you through it properly. p. 65
My tractor cranks hard when cold. Does the manual cover the glow-start system?
The Engine section includes testing of the glow-start unit, so you can check the preheat system with a meter before throwing parts at a cold-start complaint. It also gives the oil specifications and viscosity charts, which matter for cold cranking speed. p. 46
Are wiring diagrams included, and is this an electronic tractor?
Circuit diagrams are in the Electrics section, along with the digital dash indicators and the inductive transmitters that feed them. These are 1984-1987 machines, so there are no fault codes or diagnostic ports. You trace faults with the diagrams and a test lamp or multimeter, and the manual is written for exactly that. p. 730
Does it cover the air brake compressor and trailer brake valve?
Yes, the Compressor Unit section covers the compressor itself, the pressure regulator, the anti-freeze pump, the trailer control valve and the manometer. If your trailer brakes drag or the system will not build pressure, the test values and overhaul steps are here. p. 961
