Hydrostatic drive complaints on the LS45 and LS55 usually trace back to fluid level or the drive control linkage rather than a failed transaxle. The Troubleshooting chart lists drive control symptoms alongside starter, engine and fuel system faults, and the Transaxle Fluid section gives the full cold level at the reservoir.

A tired seat switch or a loose connector in the safety interlock circuit makes a healthy tractor look like it stalls at random. The Operation section explains how the interlock system, PTO engagement and parking brake are supposed to interact, so you can test the circuit instead of bypassing it.

A gas engine that sits between mowings fouls plugs and drifts out of gap, and cranking gets longer every week. The Spark Plug section gives the plug type and air gap, the removing, checking and installing steps, and the 15 ft-lb (20.4 Nm) tightening torque.

Gasoline left in the tank over winter varnishes the filter and lines, and the engine leans out or quits under load once the grass gets heavy.
