Which part fits which machine in the Gehl HL series is settled by this 64-page Gehl HL4500 parts catalog PDF, Form No. 902578, which covers four skid steer loader variants in one book. Each engine gets its own exploded views: the air-cooled Wisconsin in the HL4300, Ford gasoline in the HL4500, Ford LP gas in the HL4700 and the Perkins diesel in the HL4600. Hydraulics take up a large share of the pages, breaking down both piston pumps, the gear pump and the Columbus and Lantex lift and tilt cylinders so you can confirm which cylinder brand your loader carries before you order. Trace the drive chain and axle sprocket on the axle and drive pages, then run any part number backward through the numerical index to find its assembly. A guessed part number parks the loader for days. Bookmarks in this text-searchable file reach the load arms or the T-bar controls in a click or two.

Gehl HL4300, HL4500, HL4600, HL4700 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Gehl HL4300 through HL4700 lift or tilt cylinder seal kit hard to match between Columbus and Lantex cylinders

Confirm whether your machine carries Columbus or Lantex lift and tilt cylinders before ordering anything. Open the Columbus cylinder exploded view on page 18 and match each component and seal kit to its callout. For Lantex cylinders, use the separate Lantex breakdown in the same section, then record the part number with your model and serial number.

Manual Section: Hydraulic Cylinders, Pumps, Motor & Valve p. 18
Piston pump seal kit and relief valve parts confused between front and rear pump assemblies

Identify which pump you are working on first, because the front and rear piston pumps have separate parts breakdowns. Use the front piston pump exploded view on page 20 to match the pump assembly, seal kits and relief valve components by callout. For the rear pump, use the rear pump breakdown in the same section before ordering.

Manual Section: Hydraulic Cylinders, Pumps, Motor & Valve p. 20
Lift/tilt valve spool, detent or relief valve component not identified in loader valve breakdown

Find the Lift/Tilt Valve Service breakdown in the hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motor and valve section. Match the spool, detent and relief valve components to their callouts on the exploded view. Order individual components instead of the full valve assembly when the parts list shows them separately, and give model and serial number with the order.

Manual Section: Lift/Tilt Valve Service
Drive chain, axle sprocket or jack shaft replacement part number unknown for axle and drive rebuild

Pull up the Axle & Drive exploded view and match the axle, axle sprocket, jack shaft, drive chain and bearing housing to their callouts. Read the numbers from the parts list on page 13. Check the hydraulic motor and emergency brake listings in the same section, and look up mounting hardware torque in the SAE grade table on page 63.

Manual Section: Axle & Drive p. 13
T-bar control lever, pump control rod or pump pivot arm parts hard to identify

Use the Console & Controls exploded view to match the T-bar control lever, pump control rod, pump pivot arm, throttle and shut-off cable to their callouts. Read the part numbers from the parts list on page 15. Order the friction bar from the same list if it needs replacing, and quote model and serial number.

Manual Section: Console & Controls p. 15
Engine, electrical or hydraulic system part number differs by model and serial number

Find your model and serial number using the location guide in the Introduction on page 2 before you open the parts pages. Then use the matching breakdown. The HL4300 engine, electrical and hydraulic system pages are separate from the HL4500 and HL4700 groups, which start on page 25. Give model, serial number, part number and description when ordering.
