Manitou Americas R-Series Skid Steers Common Problems This Manual Covers
Loss of drive power under load
The loader stops traveling or feels weak when working under load. This usually traces to a drive pump, drive motor, low charge pressure, or contamination in the hydrostatic circuit shown in the drive schematics.
Manual Section: Hydraulic Schematic - Models 135R/1350R p. 327Lift arms drift down or raise slowly
The lift arms settle on their own or are slow to raise. Worn lift cylinders, a self-level valve fault, valve spool wear, or low hydraulic oil are the usual causes.
Manual Section: Hydraulic Schematic - Models 135R/1350R with Power-A-Tach and Self-Level p. 328Engine cranks but machine shuts down
The engine starts but the machine derates or shuts down. Check the safety interlock, the main relay, and the main control unit before condemning the engine, using the chassis wiring diagram.
Manual Section: Electrical Schematic - Chassis p. 339Hydraulic system overheats quickly
The hydraulics run hot or become noisy after only a short period of work. Low hydraulic oil, a clogged filter, a restricted cooler, or internal pump wear are common reasons.
Manual Section: Hydraulic Schematic - Models 150R/1500R p. 329Attachment functions weak or dead
Auxiliary attachment functions are weak or do not respond. The auxiliary valve, the Power-A-Tach circuit, a coupler fault, or a hydraulic supply problem should be checked against the schematic.
Manual Section: Hydraulic Schematic - Models 150R/1500R with Power-A-Tach, Hydraglide and Self-Level p. 330Machine creeps or steers unevenly
The loader creeps in neutral or pulls to one side. A hydrostatic drive imbalance, worn pumps or motors, or a two-speed drive fault can cause poor control response.
Manual Section: Two-Speed Drive (Option) p. 61Frequently Asked Questions
