Part of the New Holland Repair Manuals.
Fault codes are the hardest chapter in this book, and they get a section of their own. CCU, ECU and ADIC codes come with failure modes and the connector, continuity, short-circuit and open-circuit checks to run. Numbered schematic sheets cover power distribution, transmission control, PTO and safety, and the CANBUS.
The rest of the book covers the engine, clutch, mechanical, Power Shuttle and Dual Command transmissions, 4WD, both axles, brakes, hydraulics, steering, cab A/C and the front loader. It is part number 47878245, 1st edition English, for the T4.90, T4.100, T4.110 and T4.120 Tier 4B (final) for North America, with cab or without.
Tightening torques, pressure settings, pump outputs and a special tool index sit alongside the procedures.

New Holland T4.90, T4.100, T4.110, T4.120 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Power Shuttle tractor does not move
Start with the Power Shuttle troubleshooting in the Transmission section, which points first to low system pressure. Put a gauge on and compare the reading with the 17.50 - 18.50 Kg/cm² (248.91 - 263.13 psi) working pressure. The Power Shuttle control valve hydraulic schematic in the same section shows the circuit being tested.
Manual Section: Transmission - Power shuttle transmission - Troubleshooting p. 226Front loader has little lift and weak tearout
The front loader bucket hydraulic troubleshooting traces small lift and tearout capacity to low oil pressure in the circuit. Check the hydraulic circuit, then flow-test the pump against its rated new output. The loader hydraulic schematics in Hydraulic Systems let you follow the lines to the loader valve and bucket cylinders.
Manual Section: Hydraulic systems - Front loader bucket hydraulic system - Troubleshooting p. 1025Independent PTO commanded by the flywheel does not work
The rear electro-hydraulic PTO control troubleshooting lists a clogged oil filter as a cause, so replace the filter first. Then check PTO clutch working pressure against 17.5 - 18.5 Kg/cm² (248.9 - 263.1 psi). Do both before you drain 58.0 l (15.3 US gal) to pull a hydraulic PTO.
Manual Section: Power Take-Off (PTO) - Rear electro-hydraulic control - Troubleshooting p. 736Fault code 1010-Hitch height limit potentiometer - signal too low
The DTC section gives a faulty wiring harness as the cause of this code. Work through its connector checks and signal continuity tests. If they show a short to ground, repair or replace the harness as required. Use the harness localization pages to find the run on the tractor.
Manual Section: Electrical systems - FAULT CODES p. 2642Frequently Asked Questions
Which New Holland T4 tractors does this service manual cover?
It covers the T4.90, T4.100, T4.110 and T4.120 Tier 4B (final) for North America. It is part number 47878245, 1st edition English. Engine codes are F5GFL413A*B007 for mechanical and Power Shuttle, and F5GFL413A*B006 for Dual Command. p. 2
What engine speeds give the rated PTO speeds on the New Holland T4.90 through T4.120?
For 540 PTO, run the engine at 1957 RPM with the mechanical PTO or 1876 RPM with the hydraulic PTO. 540E comes in at 1535 engine RPM and 1000 PTO at 2125 RPM. p. 740
What hydraulic pump outputs are listed for the New Holland T4.90 through T4.120?
A new 45 l/min pump should put out 48.36 l/min (12.78 US gpm). The 60 l/min lift pump is optional on Power Shuttle and Hi-Lo and available on request for mechanical transmission. A new one is rated at 62.95 l/min (16.63 US gpm). p. 898
How much A/C refrigerant and compressor oil does the New Holland T4.90 through T4.120 cab take?
Cab versions take 650.0 g (22.9 oz) of HFC-134a. The SANDEN SD 7H15 compressor takes 185 cm³ (11.29 in³) of lubricating oil. The Cab Climate Control section also covers the pressure switch, the drive belt and leakage tests. p. 1279
Does the New Holland T4.90 through T4.120 manual include wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics and fault codes?
Yes. The numbered schematic sheets include 03 for main battery power distribution, 19 for transmission control, 21 for PTO and safety and 31 for CANBUS. Hydraulic schematics cover the Power Shuttle control valve, front loader NSL/MSL and the rear hitch. The DTC section lists codes such as 1004-Wheel speed sensor - signal too high and 1010-Hitch height limit potentiometer - signal too low. p. 1407
