Part of the New Holland Repair Manuals.
New Holland service manual 40903000 for the 9030 Bidirectional tractor covers the hydrostatic pump and motor, range transmission and pressure testing, with oil flow schematics to trace each circuit. Brakes, splitter box and forward-neutral-reverse linkage are in the same section.
Working on a bidirectional tractor means drop boxes at both ends, a cab that tilts and wiring that changes with the serial number. The book has serial-specific wiring diagrams, a full hydraulic schematic, three-point hitch flowcharts and its own engine and fuel sections for the 9030E.

New Holland 9030, 9030E Common Problems This Manual Covers
Range transmission gears are hard to shift
The range transmission troubleshooting chart in the Transmission and Brake Systems section names the linkage as the first cause. If the shift linkage has drifted out of adjustment, the gears will not go in cleanly. Check the linkage and adjust it using the section procedure.
Manual Section: Transmission and Brake Systems - Range Transmission Troubleshooting p. 482Hydraulics will not produce the required pressure and flow at the couplers
Start with the cheapest check from the Hydraulic and Steering Systems troubleshooting chart, which is low oil level. Fill the hydraulic reservoir to the level in the sight glass. It holds 10.5 gal. U.S. (40 L). If the couplers are still weak, go on to the pressure and flow testing in that section.
Manual Section: Hydraulic and Steering Systems - Troubleshooting p. 777Three-point hitch will not raise
The Three-Point Hitch troubleshooting chart looks at the load before anything else. If the implement is too heavy for the hitch, lighten the load and try the lift again. If it still will not come up, use the diagnostic flowcharts in that section, which cover the controllers, feedback potentiometers and solenoids.
Manual Section: Three-Point Hitch - Troubleshooting, General System p. 852Dome lamp does not work even with 12 volts at the socket
The Electrical System Circuits section covers this case. With 12 volts at the socket and still no light, the lamp has no ground. Trace the ground side and repair the ground circuit. Use the serial-specific wiring diagram for your tractor to find where that ground ends up.
Manual Section: Electrical System Circuits - Dome Lamp p. 438Frequently Asked Questions
Which tractors does this service manual cover?
It covers the New Holland 9030 Bidirectional tractor, service manual 40903000. Separate engine and fuel system sections cover the 9030E with the low-emission 5.0-liter engine. The battery section places the 9030E at S/N D202638 - current production. p. 2
What engine power is listed for the 9030 and the 9030E?
For the 9030 the manual lists Maximum Brake Power of 116 HP (87 kw) and Estimated Maximum PTO Power of 102 HP (75 kw). The 9030E is listed at a Rated Power of 93 KW (125 HP) at 2500 RPM. p. 1101
What are the engine oil, cooling system and hydraulic reservoir capacities on the New Holland 9030, 9030E?
Engine oil with filter takes 15 qt. U.S. (14 L). The cooling system holds 6.4 gal. U.S. (24 L). The hydraulic oil reservoir holds 10.5 gal. U.S. (40 L). p. 1111
What hydraulic pump and steering pressures does the manual give?
The pump pressure compensator setting is 3000-3100 psi (207-214 bar) at zero flow. Implement flow at the cab end is 28 gpm US (106 L/min). Steering relief pressure is 2500 psi (173 bar). p. 1105
Does the manual include wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics?
Yes. The electrical section has full wiring diagrams in four panels for each serial range, such as S/N D470100 - D488289 and S/N D202638 - Current Production. The hydraulic section has the 9030 hydraulic schematic. The transmission section has hydrostatic oil flow schematics, and the hitch section has diagrams and diagnostic flowcharts. p. 324
