Planting will not wait while you second guess a hitch setting or an alarm code on your T8. This 624 page New Holland T8.275-T8.390 operator manual PDF, OEM 84309497, covers all five models from the T8.275 to the T8.390 in factory detail. Maintenance takes up roughly a quarter of the book, walking every interval from the daily 10 hour checks out to the 5000 hour services with the fluids and capacities each one calls for. Alarm and symptom tables decode the instrument cluster, and the working operations chapter sorts out rear PTO, three point hitch, remote valves, and ballasting. Store DEF between -11 °C (12 °F) and 30 °C (86 °F), and pull disc to rim nuts to 310 Nm (230 lb ft). A tractor parked over a question is an afternoon of fieldwork gone. Bookmarks and a real text layer put the right page in front of you fast; download it and stay in the field.

New Holland T8.275-T8.390 Common Problems This Manual Covers

New Holland T8 losing power or running rough after refueling, air or water in the fuel filter

Warnings for the engine, transmission and hydraulics show on the lower display with an audible alarm, indicator lights and a text message, in 4 levels of importance (page 549). The engine lacks power row on page 560 lists clogged fuel filter(s), incorrect fuel and low DEF/AdBlue level among its causes. After fitting a new canister, bleed the filter: open the bleed screw, turn the key on so the fuel transfer pump runs for 30-45 seconds, turn the key off once it stops, wait approximately 10 seconds and repeat until no air comes from the bleed, then close the screw and start the engine (page 470).

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 470
DEF system warning light on with engine power reduced during planting, exhaust fluid gauge reads full

DEF/AdBlue is a 32.5 % aqueous urea solution defined by ISO 22241-1; do not add anti-gelling or freeze point improvers (page 408). Store it between -11 °C (12 °F) and 30 °C (86 °F) in an approved, tightly closed container, since storage above 30 °C (86 °F) greatly reduces its typical 6-12 month shelf life (page 408). The tank holds 87 l (page 401), and low DEF/AdBlue level is itself a listed cause of lack of power (page 560).

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 408
Temperature gauge climbing into the red and overheating alarm sounding during heavy tillage

Work the engine overheats row on page 561: low engine oil or coolant level (fill the recovery tank and check for leaks), defective thermostat(s), a dirty or blocked radiator core, excessive overload, a faulty radiator pressure cap, a blocked cooling system, a loose or worn fan belt and leaking hoses. The cooling system holds 26.5 l (page 401), and engine coolant is changed every 2000 hours on the maintenance chart (page 419).

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 561
Front wheel wobble and clicking noise from the hub after changing wheel tread spacing

On the MFD axle, torque the disc to front axle hub nuts (A) to 385 - 425 Nm (285 - 315 lb ft) with lubricated hardware and the disc to rim nuts (B) to 310 Nm (230 lb ft) without lubricating them, following the torque sequence and making sure the disc fits flush against the rim. Check bolt torque after the first 30 minutes of field use, every 10 hours until torques stabilize and every 300 hours thereafter (page 332).

Manual Section: Working Operations p. 332
Engine cranks slowly on frosty mornings and takes several tries to start

Turn the key to on until the electric fuel pump stops (30 to 45 seconds) and the grid heater icon goes out, then crank for no more than 30 seconds and wait 2 to 3 minutes between attempts to let the starting motor cool (page 129). In cold weather leave the key on while the 'Grid Heater ON Wait to Start' message shows, and never use ether as a starting aid (page 130). If the engine still will not start, check the fuel shutoff solenoid fuse under the top step (page 129).

Manual Section: Operating Instructions p. 129
