Controls and instruments, operating and transport procedures, PTO and working operations, maintenance, troubleshooting and specifications: this New Holland operator manual walks each of those systems end to end for the T9.390, T9.450, T9.505, T9.560, T9.615 and T9.670 articulated tractors, serial number ZDF200001 and above.

Every hour one of these tractors sits with a warning on the display is an hour the drill, the disc or the air cart is not moving, and the dealer is rarely close enough to answer a question the same morning. The book gives you wheel and hub torque values, fluid capacities, filter service steps, the remote valve and three-point hitch controls, the maintenance chart, and the fault code retrieval procedure.

470 pages in English, New Holland publication 47538842, delivered as a PDF you download, search and print by the page, so you can sort the problem out and get back in the field.

New Holland T9.390–T9.670 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Wheel and hub bolts working loose

Duals, wheel weights and repeated tread width changes let hub bolts relax, and a hub that starts to move on the flange chews studs before the round is done. Working Operations gives the wheel to hub bolt torque as 529-569 N·m and the dual hub spacer to inner wheel torque as 922-962 N·m on the 10 bolt flange axle.

Manual Section: Working Operations p. 286
Hydraulic filter restriction and lazy remotes

A hydraulic filter restriction warning usually shows itself first as slow remote hydraulics on a cold morning, then as a display message once the oil warms. The Maintenance section walks the hydraulic oil and filter change, with the filters removed using a strap type filter wrench.

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 393
Coolant temperature climbing under heavy draft

Temperature creeping up in heavy draft on a hot day normally traces to packed screens and cores, a tired fan drive or a thermostat that is not opening. The Specifications section lists the thermostat as starting to open at 83 °C (180 °F) and fully open at 95 °C (203 °F), which tells you whether the gauge reading is real trouble.

Manual Section: Specifications p. 442
Transmission drops out, neutral icon flashes

A flashing box around the neutral icon with the transmission disengaged is not a reason to start pulling the drivetrain apart. The Troubleshooting section lists the cause, such as starting the tractor with the transmission control lever out of Park or Neutral, and the correction.

Manual Section: Troubleshooting p. 440
Hard starting in cold weather

A T9 that cranks but will not fire on a frozen morning is usually a cold start sequence done out of order, a plugged primary fuel filter or a battery that never fully recovered. Operating Instructions covers normal engine starting and cold temperature operation step by step.

Manual Section: Operating Instructions p. 147
Rear PTO will not engage

A rear PTO that refuses to engage, or that kicks out as soon as a heavy implement loads it, is often an interlock or a connection issue rather than a failed clutch pack. Working Operations covers the PTO safety rules, connecting the power take-off and PTO operation.

Manual Section: Working Operations p. 203
Tractor comes out of storage flat

A tractor parked between seasons comes back with soft tires, flat spots in the rubber and a battery that will not turn it over on the first cold day. The Maintenance section covers storage preparation and calls for tires set to 200 kPa (30 psi) while the tractor sits.

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 407
