New Holland TK4.90–TK4.110M Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

The hydraulic lift does not rise

Start with the oil filter. A clogged filter starves the hitch, so replace it. If the lift still won't come up, the control valve may be jammed in the discharge position and needs releasing. If neither fixes it, the hydraulic pump is faulty and must be overhauled or replaced.

Manual Section: Hydraulic Systems p. 825
The main clutch slips

Measure the discs against the specification and replace worn parts, then adjust the levers and linkage. A weak or damaged Belleville spring also causes slip, and the fix is a new spring. If there is oil or grease on the friction material, replace the discs, find and stop the leak, and clean the surfaces.

Manual Section: Clutch and Components p. 579
The brakes are weak, or stay locked after the pedals are released

Weak braking usually means the friction material on the brake disks is worn, so replace the disks. If the brakes stay locked after you release the pedals, the brake actuator has seized. Free it off and replace the damaged parts. The mechanical brakes chapter covers removal, adjustment and the hydraulic brake actuator.

Manual Section: Brakes and Controls p. 757
The servo-operated clutch will not engage

Low system pressure is the first suspect. Check for leaks, replace any damaged pipes and check the accumulator preload. A fault in the electrical system can also stop it, so check for faulty parts and replace them. If pressure and wiring are both good, the piston spool has seized and the actuator needs an overhaul.

Manual Section: Clutch Hydraulic Servo Release p. 325

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this manual cover my New Holland TK4.90, TK4.90M, TK4.100, TK4.100M, TK4.110 or TK4.110M crawler tractor?

Yes. This is New Holland service manual 51543554, in English, March 2019. It covers the TK4.90, TK4.90M, TK4.100, TK4.100M, TK4.110 and TK4.110M, each with cab and without cab. It lists the engine for each model: F5DFL413Z*A001 on the TK4.90 and TK4.90M, F5DFL4131*A003 on the TK4.100 and TK4.100M, and F5DFL413J*A032 on the TK4.110 and TK4.110M. Some shared tables also list related TK4.80, F, N and V models, which are not on the cover. p. 2

What oil and coolant capacities does the New Holland TK4 crawler take?

Engine oil is 9.50 L (2.09 UK gal) with the filter, or 6.4 - 8.1 L (1.4 - 1.8 UK gal) for the sump only. Use 10W-40 or 0W-40 to API CJ-4, ACEA E9. The cooling system holds 14.0 L (3.1 UK gal). The drive line and hydraulic lift share 39.0 L (8.6 UK gal) of NEW HOLLAND AMBRA MULTI F. The steering clutches take 1.4 L (0.3 UK gal). Fuel is 74.2 L (16.3 UK gal) in the primary tank plus 21.8 L (4.8 UK gal) in the auxiliary tank. p. 22

What are the New Holland TK4.90 to TK4.110M hitch relief pressures and lift capacity?

The hitch maximum pressure valve is set at 190 - 195 bar (2755 - 2827.5 psi). The cylinder safety valve is set at 210 - 215 bar (3045 - 3117.5 psi). Maximum lift at the lower link ends over the full stroke is 3720 kg. With the centre of gravity 610 mm from the lower link ends, it drops to 1850 kg. Check your gauge readings against these figures before you condemn the pump. p. 784

At what engine speed does the New Holland TK4 PTO run at 540 and 1000 RPM?

With the PTO at 540 RPM, the engine runs at 1958 RPM on the TK4.90 and TK4.90M. On the TK4.100, TK4.100M, TK4.110 and TK4.110M it runs at 2199 RPM. With the PTO at 1000 RPM, the engine runs at 2381 RPM. Mark those on the tach and your implement runs at its rated speed. p. 724

What is inside this manual: wiring diagrams, fault codes, troubleshooting?

It has electrical schematic sheets 03 to 42, in separate sets for cab and no-cab tractors. It also has connector diagrams 00 to 95, the fuse and relay boxes, and a fault code (DTC) section with a check-and-correct procedure for each code. Problem / Possible Cause / Correction tables cover the clutch, servo clutch release, transmission, final drives, PTO, brakes, hitch control valve and steering clutches. There are no engine specifications and no engine overhaul in this book. p. 2296
