Factory tolerances, fill quantities and fault logic for the Takeuchi TB15 compact excavator are settled in one place: this 272-page Takeuchi TB15 service manual PDF, the Workshop Manual issued as PUB. 1. Hydraulic schematics trace oil from the gear pump through the control valve to the travel and slew motors, and wiring diagrams map the electrical circuits you will chase with a meter. Roughly a third of the book goes to hydraulic unit overhauls covering the pump, control valve, slew counterbalance valve, travel motor and swivel joint, while the troubleshooting charts sort faults by function: travel, slewing, boom, arm, bucket, boom swing and dozer blade. Expect 7 cc/rev from each of the three gear pump sections, and fill each track roller with 40 cc of oil. One missing figure can stall a travel motor rebuild halfway. Bookmarked and text-searchable, your copy travels on a laptop or phone to whatever jobsite the TB15 is working.

Takeuchi TB15 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Takeuchi TB15 engine running but no hydraulic operations at all from boom, arm, slew or travel
Check the hydraulic oil level and top up if low: loosen plug A to release tank pressure, then remove plug B and fill with the same brand already in use (page 188). Do not start disassembly right after the failure, per page 185. Disconnect and plug the main pump discharge hoses, crank on the starter with the throttle at engine stop, and watch for discharge. No oil means a defective main pump or coupling.
Manual Section: Entire Machine Troubleshooting p. 187All functions operate but lack power and the main pump makes abnormal noise
Check the suction pipes by smearing grease or oil over suspect joints to see if air is drawn in, and check the suction filter for clogging (page 190). Replace bad seal tape, O-rings or hoses. Then tighten the relief valve adjusting bolt gradually; no pressure rise after 1/4 turn means a defective valve. Set pressure is 155 kg/cm².
Manual Section: Entire Machine Troubleshooting p. 189Main pump worn internally with metal particles showing up in the hydraulic oil
Replace the spin filter cartridge, then change the hydraulic oil and flush the system to NAS Class 9 per page 191. While the oil is out, clean the inside of the hydraulic tank and the suction strainer. Refill to the 29 L tank level (42 L total system, page 26). If the pump seals are damaged, replace them.
Manual Section: Entire Machine Troubleshooting p. 191Right or left track will not travel at all while other functions still work
Measure the spool stroke against 6.0 mm and check the return spring bolt for looseness. Pull the pin joining spool and yoke and check yoke movement. Disconnect the swivel joint hose at the counterbalance valve, fit a gauge and work the travel lever; normal is 155 kg/cm² (page 193). A faulty travel motor goes back to its maker for repair.
Manual Section: Travel Troubleshooting p. 192Machine curves to one side with one crawler slower than the other
Test by driving 10 m straight on hard, flat ground; up to 70 cm is normal. Check crawler belt tension against 10 to 15 mm for rubber tracks (page 38). Then swap No. 1 and No. 2 main pump discharge hoses; if the curve flips sides, the pump is defective (page 196). No change? Swap the relief valves and retest.
Manual Section: Travel Troubleshooting p. 195Slewing is slow or there is no power when the slew lever is operated
Check the spool stroke, then fit a pressure gauge on the slew motor and adjust the slew relief valve (page 200). If pressure will not rise, disassemble and clean or replace the relief valve. Check the counterbalance valve plunger moves freely. Finally remove the slew motor; if its shaft turns lightly by hand, the motor is defective (page 204).
Manual Section: Slew Troubleshooting p. 203Frequently Asked Questions
What are the hydraulic pressure settings for the Takeuchi TB15?
The main relief valve setting is 155 kgf/cm² at 16 l/min (2205 psi at 4.2 US gal/min). The port relief valve setting is 210 kgf/cm² at 2 l/min (2987 psi at 0.53 US gal/min). p. 25
What is the crawler belt tension specification for the Takeuchi TB15?
For the steel crawler, the standard tension value is 20 to 40 mm (0.79 to 1.57 in). For the rubber crawler, the standard tension value is 10 to 15 mm (0.40 to 0.59 in). p. 38
What are the fluid capacities for the Takeuchi TB15?
The fuel tank capacity is 22 liters (5.81 US gal). The hydraulic oil tank level capacity is 29 liters (7.66 US gal), with a total system capacity of 42 liters (11.1 US gal). p. 26
What is the tightening torque for M10 bolts (ISO Strength Category 10.9) on the Takeuchi TB15?
For M10 x 1.5 coarse thread bolts, the tightening torque is 4.8 ± 0.24 kgf-m (34.8 ± 1.6 ft-lb) for general connection points and 5.6 ± 0.28 kgf-m (40.5 ± 2.0 ft-lb) for special connection points. p. 15
How do you pressurize the hydraulic oil tank after installing a hydraulic unit?
Lower the dozer blade until it contacts the ground, then extend all cylinders fully except for the blade cylinder. In this state, tighten the air vent plug to seal the tank tight. p. 11
