Only one engine is covered here, so the fit is clear: the Deutz TCD 2013 4V workshop manual PDF, OEM document 0312 3132 en, runs to 356 pages. Job cards organize the work by system, taking the cylinder head through valve clearance and head removal, the drive system through pistons, con rods and piston rings, and the fuel system through the high-pressure pump, rail, injectors and rail pressure sensor. Testing and setting data and tightening specifications get their own chapter, while a job card overview sorted alphabetically and numerically sends you to the right card. Tighten the M22x1.5 union screw on the pressure pipe nozzle in two stages, 20 Nm then 52 Nm; the fuel pipe on the control block takes 34 Nm. Your task may be a compression pressure check. Buy it once and the file stays yours for this engine, bookmarked by chapter and text-searchable, so valve clearance and tightening values are quick to reach.

Deutz TCD 2013 4V Common Problems This Manual Covers

Deutz TCD 2013 4V compression pressure test shows more than 15% deviation between cylinders

Check and set valve clearance first, then remove the injectors and fit the connector with an injector sealing ring as shown on page 65. Wait 30 seconds after shutdown before working on the fuel system (page 225). Remove the fuel supply pump, crank on the starter, and compare the cylinders against each other. If one is beyond 15% deviation, disassemble that cylinder unit following page 66.

Manual Section: Checking the compression pressure p. 66
Valve setting screw already touching without clearance during valve lash check on cylinder head

Let the engine cool at least 30 minutes, oil below 80 °C, then turn it to cylinder 1 valve overlap with the turn-over gear (page 73). Zero the rotation angle disc and turn the setting screw to contact. If there is no clearance, find and eliminate the cause first. Back off to 75° inlet and 105° outlet per page 27, holding the adjusting screw; do not rotate it (page 75).

Manual Section: Checking and setting the valve clearance p. 75
Crankshaft axial clearance reading on dial gauge outside setpoint during endplay check

Mount the magnetic measuring stand and dial gauge, preload the stylus on the crankshaft end, push the crank one way and zero the gauge, then push it back and read the value (page 107). If it is off setpoint, measure the thrust ring halves and select new halves to suit, oil grooves facing the crankshaft web. Tighten the fit bearing cover and recheck per page 109.

Manual Section: Checking the axial clearance of the crankshaft p. 107
Cylinder head gasket thickness uncertain after head removal with varying piston projection across cylinders

Clean the sealing surfaces until free of oil, measure piston projection, and check valve stand back (page 91). Select the gasket for the largest projection measured; 1.20 mm corresponds to the 2 hole marking (page 96). Do not place the head on its sealing surface (page 90). Fit the gasket with OBEN/TOP facing the head, lightly oil the screws, and torque in the sequence on page 92. Reuse head screws a maximum of 2 times upon verification.

Manual Section: Removing and installing the cylinder head p. 91
Leak at high pressure fuel pipe or injection line while the engine is running

Shut the engine down and keep your hands away from the leak (page 18). The fuel system is under high pressure, and the manual says go to the workshop immediately (page 17). Wait 30 seconds after switching off before opening anything (page 225). Renew damaged injection lines and high pressure pipes, never deform them, and torque the pressure pipe union screw to 20 Nm, then 52 Nm (page 38).

Manual Section: Fuel System Job Cards p. 18
Con rod and big end bearing cover alignment lost during piston and con rod removal

Drain the oil and coolant, remove the cylinder head and lubricating oil pan, and mount the liner holder (page 129). Keep each big end bearing cover with its rod in installation location and alignment; installed the wrong way around, the rod is useless. Do not damage the break areas. Fit the protective plug, press out the piston (page 130), and torque rod screws 30 Nm plus 60° plus 60° (page 35).

Manual Section: Removing and installing the piston and con rod p. 130

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the replacement specifications for fuel system seals and connectors on the Deutz TCD 2013 4V?

When working on the fuel system, all high-pressure pipes and injection pipes must be renewed after disassembly. Additionally, new sealing rings must be used when installing fuel pipes and injectors, as specified in the relevant job cards such as W 07-15-11 and W 07-15-04. p. 250

What is the tightening torque for the cylinder head screws on the TCD 2013 4V engine?

The cylinder head screws on the TCD 2013 4V engine require a pre-clamping value of 40 Nm, followed by a post-clamping value of 95 Nm plus an additional 180° turn. p. 35

What is the valve clearance setting for the inlet and outlet valves on the TCD 2013 4V?

The valve clearance for the inlet valve is 75° and for the outlet valve is 105° on a cold engine (oil temperature < 80 °C) after a cooling down time of at least 0.5 hours. p. 27

What is the system pressure range for the DEUTZ Common Rail fuel system?

The system pressure for the DEUTZ Common Rail fuel system on the TCD 2013 4V engine is between 300 and 1600 bar. p. 30

What is the tightening torque for the main bearing on the crankcase of the Deutz TCD 2013 4V?

The main bearing on the crankcase should be tightened to a pre-clamping value of 50 Nm, followed by two additional tightening steps of 60° each. p. 35
