Factory publication 42323052, the New Holland 3930 operator manual PDF, walks the tractor through break-in, daily operation, and every scheduled service across 122 pages, and the same book covers four sister models from the 3230 up to the 5030. Controls, instruments, and operation take up nearly half of it, moving you from the starting procedure through the transmission, four wheel drive, PTO, three-point linkage, remote valves, tractor weighting, and track adjustment. A lubrication and maintenance chart lays out every routine service, while the specifications section closes with dimensions, capacities, and approved lubricants for all five models. Set clutch pedal free play at 1.1 to 1.6 inches (28 to 41 mm), and pull the ROPS mounting bolts to 180 to 220 lbf.ft. Daylight burns while a parked tractor waits on answers. Bookmarked and keyword searchable, the PDF is on your screen minutes after checkout, and the 3930 is back in the field.

Ford 3230–5030 Common Problems This Manual Covers

New Holland 3930 lights come on but starter stays silent, only starts when jumping the solenoid

Check battery voltage first; a rested battery should read 12.6 volts, and anything below 12.4 volts cranks a diesel poorly. Verify the transmission is in neutral with the clutch pedal fully depressed, since the safety switch blocks the starter. Never jump the solenoid from the ground; heed the starting motor decal shown on page 12.

Manual Section: Engine Starting/Stopping Procedure
Engine turns over slowly and will not fire on frosty mornings before fieldwork

Check the cold weather starting procedure in the operation section beginning on page 21 and follow it step by step. Charge or replace any battery reading below 12.4 volts; slow cranking kills cold starts. Keep winter grade diesel in the tank and drain water from the fuel system before frost season sets in.

Manual Section: Controls, Instruments and Operation p. 21
Loses power and runs sluggish under load, gets worse when pulling in the field

Check that the fuel petcock is fully open, then replace the fuel filter at the interval shown in the maintenance schedule on page 70. Bleed all air from the filter and injection pump after any filter change. Drain water and sediment from the tank; the 50 hour service on page 17 covers the routine fuel checks.

Manual Section: Lubrication and Maintenance p. 70
PTO will not engage or slips under load running the baler or rotary cutter

Check the rear axle oil level before anything else; low oil starves the PTO clutch. Engage the PTO at low idle, then bring the engine up to rated 540 RPM speed before loading the implement. Review the PTO operating instructions starting on page 21 and the PTO safety precautions on page 14 before heading back out.

Manual Section: Controls, Instruments and Operation p. 21
Transmission jams between gears, grinds going into range, or refuses to shift with clutch pedal down

Check the transmission oil level on the dipstick with the tractor parked level and the engine off. Fill only with the oil listed in the lubricants section on page 101; the wrong fluid makes range and shuttle shifts drag. Stop completely before shifting ranges, and have clutch adjustment checked at the 50 hour service on page 17.

Manual Section: Specifications p. 101
Red warning light stays lit on the instrument panel after the engine starts

Check the light against the universal symbols chart on page 20 before running any further. Shut down immediately if it is the engine oil pressure light and check the oil level on the dipstick. For the alternator light, test the battery (12.6 volts fully charged) and inspect belt tension before your next trip to the field.
