This is the factory chassis service manual for the McCormick MTX Series tractors: the MTX110, MTX120, MTX125, MTX135, MTX140, MTX150, MTX155 and MTX165. It runs 1,602 pages across the factory two volume set (publication SM 8-11504) and is the book the dealer technician works from. It covers the tractor, the powershift and range transmission, the front and rear axles, the hydraulics, the steering, brakes, cab and the full suite of electronic controllers, with complete electrical troubleshooting and schematics (separate diagrams for the different model groups) and hydraulic schematics, plus step by step calibration and error code procedures for every controller on the tractor. One honest note up front: internal engine teardown and overhaul are not in this volume. The engine section covers removal and refitting and points you to the companion McCormick engine manual for the rebuild. Everything else on the machine is here.

McCormick MTX110-MTX165 Common Problems This Manual Covers
A hydraulic remote will not work or the system loses pressure
Work the Hydraulics section. It carries the hydraulic troubleshooting routine with the full schematics split by transmission serial number, plus the charge lubrication pump, the hydraulic valves and the Bosch remote valves. That lets you trace a dead remote to its spool, solenoid or supply and a pressure loss to the charge pump or a relief setting, working the real circuit instead of guessing.
Manual Section: HydraulicsTransmission throws calibration errors, slips, or shifts erratically
Use the Transmission and Controller Systems sections together. Transmission covers the powershift and range servicing, the powershift and shuttle valves and the differential, while Controller Systems gives the speed sequencer and F/N/R and powershift calibration with its error codes. You read the stored code, re-run the calibration and only then open the gearbox if the fault is mechanical.
Manual Section: Controller SystemsIntermittent electrical faults, dead instruments, or sensor readings that wander
Start in the Electrical section. It carries the full troubleshooting and schematics in separate diagram sets for the different MTX model groups, plus the sender resistance figures (fuel level, trailer brake pressure, PTO and creep solenoids) so you can test a suspect sensor against its spec. That turns an intermittent fault into a measured one you can pin to a connector, sender or harness.
Manual Section: ElectricalA controller is throwing error codes or the hitch will not calibrate
Go to the Controller Systems section. It lists the calibration sequence, the error codes and the troubleshooting schematics for every controller on the tractor: the hitch, MFD and differential lock controller, the independent front suspension controller, the speed sequencer, the PTO controller, the instrument cluster software and the automatic temperature control. You read the code, follow its tree and re-run the calibration to confirm the fix.
Manual Section: Controller SystemsFrequently Asked Questions
Does this manual cover engine overhaul on the MTX Series?
No. The Engine section covers removing and refitting the engine in the tractor. The internal rebuild, pistons, bearings, injection and the rest, is in the companion McCormick engine manual, and this chassis manual points you to it. What you get here is everything to get the engine out, plus full coverage of the rest of the tractor including the transmission, hydraulics and every controller.
Are the wiring and hydraulic diagrams included?
Yes, and there are several. The Electrical section carries full troubleshooting and schematics with separate diagram sets for the different MTX model groups, and the Hydraulics section carries the hydraulic troubleshooting schematics split by transmission serial number. These are the dealer diagrams used to trace a fault to the actual circuit.
How do I read and clear controller error codes?
The Controller Systems section is built for that. It gives the calibration procedures, the error code lists and the troubleshooting schematics for the hitch, MFD and differential lock controller, the front suspension controller, the speed sequencer, the F/N/R, powershift and PTO controllers, the instrument cluster and the automatic temperature control. Each one has its own programming and fault routine.
Which front axles does it cover?
The Transmission section covers the 20.19 and 20.22 mechanical front drive (MFD) axles and the 20.25 independent front suspension axle, including the PTO front drive shaft. So whether your tractor has the standard mechanical front drive or the suspended front axle, the service and the matching controller calibration are both here.
