Keeping a Mitsubishi PW23 or PW23L electric walkie lifting and braking to spec comes down to 155 pages of OEM data, and this Mitsubishi PW23, PW23L service manual PDF (part number 99759-7E100) puts it all in one file. Roughly a third of the book belongs to the electrical chapter, with full electrical schematics, the X6 connector pin layout, and event code tables that tie each fault message to its likely cause. Hydraulic coverage pairs the lift circuit schematic with pump motor replacement and lift cylinder teardown, while the service data section closes out with torque tables, recommended oils, and refill capacities. Set the drive brake air gap to 0.2 to 0.5 mm (0.008 to 0.020 in.), then bring the brake mounting screws to 5.5 Nm (4.05 ft. lbs.). Intermittent tiller faults eat whole afternoons. With bookmarked, text-searchable pages, you pin down the failed component before you order, so your parts request carries the right number the first time.

Mitsubishi PW23, PW23L Common Problems This Manual Covers

Mitsubishi PW23/PW23L walkie AC drive controller showing E016, E018 or E019 error code on display

Turn the key switch OFF and disconnect the battery before any service, as page 16 requires. Remove all power wires from the controller and set your meter to diode test. With the meter (+) lead on controller (+), probe L1, L2 and L3 for 0.5 volts and rising. Reverse the leads and you should read 0.5 volts steady. Repeat both checks on the controller (-) terminal, following page 22.

Manual Section: AC Controller Output Transistor (MOSFETS) Test p. 22
Drive motor fuse 1F1 or pump motor fuse 2F1 showing overheating, discoloration or cracking

Disconnect the battery before you inspect or service anything, per page 16. Pull the fuse or free one side from the circuit. Set the ohmmeter to Rx1 and measure across it; anything over 1 ohm fails, per page 22. Replace a damaged fuse with the correct rating from page 91: 1F1 drive motor is 100 A and 2F1 pump motor is 150 A.

Manual Section: Fuses Test/Inspection p. 22
Voltmeter reads more than 3 volts between battery terminal and truck frame during short check

Turn the key switch OFF and pull up on the battery plug. Then check each battery terminal against unpainted frame on the 50 volt DC scale, following page 88. If you read over 3 volts, remove the battery, clean it thoroughly, reinstall it and retest. Never lay tools or metal objects on top of the battery (page 72). If excessive voltage remains, have the battery checked for internal leakage.

Manual Section: Electrical Troubleshooting Guidelines p. 88
Hydraulic lines leaking at connections with loose or damaged fittings, tubing, vents or seals

Inspect every hydraulic line and component for leaking connectors, loose fittings and damaged tubing, vents or seals, following page 80. Torque the L10XG1/4A-E-St adapter to 50 Nm and the angle swivel screw connection to 35 Nm, as shown on page 81. Top up the hydraulic oil after repairs; the system holds 0.24 gal. (page 151).

Manual Section: Hydraulic Troubleshooting Guidelines p. 80
Event message 1 06 safety switch inputs out of sequence from deadman or tiller switch

Disconnect the battery before you inspect anything, per page 16. Check the wire connections to the deadman and tiller safety switches, following page 95. Label the wires, isolate the switch and measure it on a low ohmmeter scale. Closed should read under 1 ohm and open should read over 10 megohms (page 24). If it fails either reading, replace the safety switch.

Manual Section: Event Messages p. 95
Event message 1 14 speed signal from motor out of sequence with no speed sensor signal

Clear any mechanical blockage in the drive system first. Then check the speed sensor power supply and its wire connection, following page 97. If the sensor still sends no signal after a short period of motor control, replace the speed sensor. Replace the signal evaluating controller only as the last step.

Manual Section: Event Messages p. 97
