From the front axle and front-wheel drive back through the engine, diesel fuel system, clutch, transmission, differential, PTO and hydraulic lift, this 75-page Mitsubishi MT160 shop manual PDF works through the whole tractor for twelve MT-series variants, MT160 through MT300D. Wiring diagrams trace the starter, alternator and safety start circuits, and hydraulic schematics show how oil moves from the pump through the control valve to the hitch. Transmission work takes up the largest share of the book, with range, speed and hydrostatic units all covered, and the hydraulic chapter ends with test, adjust and trouble-shooting charts. Set the starter pinion gap at 0.5-2.0 mm, and bring the M12 cylinder head bolts to 108-117 N·m (80-87 ft.-lbs.). Splitting a tractor for a clutch is slow enough already. Search the text or jump by bookmark, then print the pages you want so they can sit on the bench, take the grease, and keep you moving toward the field before the weather turns.

Mitsubishi MT160-MT300D Common Problems This Manual Covers
Mitsubishi MT180D diesel fuel filter replaced and lines opened, engine cranks but will not fire
Check the fuel filter, then bleed the system following page 30. If the engine still won't fire, check injection pump timing to engine on page 31 before you tear into anything bigger. Then remove the injector nozzles and test them. The condensed service data on page 5 lists minimum injector opening pressure for MT160 through MT180HD as 11760 kPa (1706 psi).
Manual Section: Diesel Fuel System p. 30Starter motor clicks or pinion grinds and fails to engage cleanly when cranking the engine
Check the safety start switch first, then remove the starting motor and measure pinion gap against 0.5-2.0 mm following page 35. Check pinion shaft end play too: 0.5 mm max on starter M002T50371-M002T50381, 1.0 mm max on M002T56271. Read the tag on your starter before you order parts.
Manual Section: Electrical System p. 35Engine down on power and hard starting, compression low on one or more cylinders
Check valve clearance cold first: intake and exhaust both 0.25 mm (0.010 inch) per page 5. Then test compression against 3140 kPa (455 psi). If a cylinder stays low, remove the cylinder head following page 23. On reassembly, page 24 gives the torque for MT160 through MT210D: M10 bolts 69-79 N·m and M12 bolts 108-117 N·m.
Manual Section: Engine p. 23Three-point hitch hydraulic lift raises slowly, sags, or will not lift a loaded implement
Check hydraulic fluid level and condition first, then pull and inspect the filter following page 67. If the hitch is still weak, test and adjust the pump and control valve using the hydraulic trouble-shooting steps before you condemn anything. Adjust the lift linkage last so you're back in the field before the weather turns.
Manual Section: Hydraulic System p. 67Hydrostatic transmission on H and HD models feels weak or will not pull under load
Check the hydrostatic circuit against the hydraulic schematic on page 52, then work through the transmission troubleshooting procedures on page 53 one step at a time. Record each result as you go. Pulling the hydrostatic unit on a guess can cost you a week in the middle of haying season.
Manual Section: Transmission p. 53Front wheels wander and steering feels loose after tie rod removal or front axle service
Inspect the tie rods for wear, then on two-wheel-drive models set front wheel toe-in to 4-8 mm (3/16-5/16 inch) following page 8. On MT160, MT180 and MT180H, verify the steering arm clamp bolt is torqued to 20-30 N·m (15-20 ft.-lbs.) per page 9. Check the steering spindles and wheel hubs while you're under there.
Manual Section: Tie Rods and Toe-In p. 8Frequently Asked Questions
