Wacker Neuson ET65, ET90, E14-01, E14-04 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Wacker Neuson ET65 hydraulic pump whines under load, bucket and boom slow to respond

Check the hydraulic oil level in the reservoir before pulling the pump; a low tank makes a healthy pump whine. Test system pressure at the main control block; maximum operating pressure on the ET65 is 240 bar, listed on page 46. If pressure holds, drain the reservoir and inspect the suction line for air leaks.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System p. 243
Engine cranks slowly or won't start, display shows E001 low battery voltage error

Measure voltage across the battery posts and confirm a full 12 V before touching anything else. Clean and tighten the battery leads; page 214 covers no-start conditions on Perkins engines, and page 240 walks the same checks for Deutz TCD 2.9 machines. If the battery tests good, test the starter solenoid circuit before replacing the starter.

Manual Section: Engine p. 214
Display shows wrench icon or warning triangle, CAN communication fault E030 with no readable code

Measure resistance across the CAN lines at the cab diagnostics plug with the ignition off; a healthy bus reads 60 Ω there, per page 302. Check the external terminating resistor for 120 Ω, shown on page 305. If either reading is open or doubled, inspect harness connectors for corrosion and backed-out pins before condemning the ECU.

Manual Section: Electrical System p. 302
Coolant temperature sensor error E102 on display, gauge reads erratic or engine overheats

Check the coolant level first; page 241 lists low coolant as the leading cause when the temperature warning responds. Inspect the engine temperature sensor at the rear of the engine below the starting motor, shown on page 301, for a loose or corroded connector. Unplug it and check the signal wire for chafe; full 12 V system voltage on a signal wire means a short to a supply lead.

Manual Section: Engine p. 241
Fuel-filling pump cuts off automatically before the tank is full, alarm keeps sounding

Check the actual fuel level first; the tank holds 85 liters, per page 39, and the pump cuts off on its own once the level alarm trips. Verify the pump's voltage, current, and temperature alarms have not latched, then clean the pump strainer and inspect the level sensor connector before swapping the pump.

Manual Section: Refueling Pump p. 820
