This is the factory shop manual for the Doosan DX62R-3 reduced tail swing and DX63-3 excavators, serial 1001 and up, publication 950106-01085E, covering 2011-2016 machines in the 6 metric ton class. It covers the Yanmar 4TNV94L diesel, the hydraulic system from the 132 l/min pump down to individual spool clearances, swing and travel drives, undercarriage, and full electrical schematics. You get the numbers a dealer tech works from: LS relief at 235 kg/cm2 (3,342 psi), system pressure at 255 kg/cm2 (3,627 psi), torque specs, disassembly steps with photos, and troubleshooting trees. Nine sections total: Safety, Specifications, General Maintenance, Upper Structure, Lower Structure and Chassis, Engine and Drivetrain, Hydraulics, Electrical System, and Attachments.

Doosan DX62R-3/DX63-3 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Swing bearing develops uneven wear and excessive play, sometimes failing early on machines that always dig off the same end

The Upper Structure section covers swing bearing inspection, play measurement, mounting bolt torque checks, and replacement. Operators who trench off one side all day load the same race segment; the manual's inspection procedure catches wear before the bearing lets go, and greasing per the General Maintenance schedule slows it down.

Manual Section: Upper Structure p. 147
Low hydraulic power, slow cylinders, or overheating oil after years of service

Follow the Hydraulics section pressure test procedure: verify LS relief at 235 kg/cm2 and system pressure at 255 kg/cm2, then check pump discharge against the 132 l/min at 2,200 rpm spec. The section walks through relief adjustment, pump inspection, and control valve disassembly so you replace the worn part, not the whole pump.

Manual Section: Hydraulics p. 679
Thrown or fast-wearing tracks, especially on the rubber-shoe machines working slopes and curbs

The Lower Structure and Chassis section gives track sag specs, the tension adjuster service procedure, and idler and sprocket wear limits. Measuring sag the way the manual shows takes five minutes and saves a set of pins and bushings; it also covers recoil spring and travel device work if damage is already done.

Manual Section: Lower Structure and Chassis p. 175
Warning lamp on, gauge reading odd, or an electrical fault with no obvious cause and no diagnostic port to plug into

The Electrical System section has the full wiring schematics, connector views, and sender and switch test values for this pre-telematics machine. Chasing a fault here means a multimeter and the schematic, not a laptop; the section shows expected resistance and voltage at each sender so you test instead of parts-swap.

Manual Section: Electrical System p. 1013

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset error codes or a fault warning on the DX62R-3 / DX63-3?

There is no app or reset menu on these machines - this is a Tier-3 era excavator with warning lamps and gauges, not telematics. A lamp stays on because the condition or the sender circuit is still faulted. The Electrical System section gives you the wiring schematics and sender test values to find why the lamp is on, and the Engine and Drivetrain section covers coolant temp and oil pressure warnings. Fix the cause and the warning clears itself.

My machine digs weak or slow. Where do I start?

Pressure test before you condemn the pump. The Hydraulics section gives the check points and settings: LS relief at 235 kg/cm2 (3,342 psi) and system pressure at 255 kg/cm2 (3,627 psi) for work and travel. A bucket that should pull 3,950 kg (38.8 kN) SAE with the 1.6 m arm and does not is usually a relief valve set low, a lazy LS signal line, or internal leakage you can isolate with the flow and pressure procedures in the manual.

Does this manual cover the Yanmar engine, or do I need a separate book?

The Engine and Drivetrain section covers the 4TNV94L as installed in this machine: removal and installation, cooling system, fuel system service, and the belt and mount work. Rated torque is 207 Nm at 1,400 rpm, so you can verify the engine is actually making its numbers under load. For a full crank-out rebuild you would want the Yanmar engine manual on top, but for everything you do with the engine in the frame, this book has it.

What fluid capacities do I need for a full service?

Fuel tank is 78 liters (21 U.S. gal.). Hydraulic oil is 65 liters at tank level, 83 liters full, and 111 liters (29.3 U.S. gal.) for the whole system, which is the number that matters when you flush after a pump failure. The General Maintenance section lists all capacities, fluid grades by climate, and the service intervals, so you are not guessing at the parts counter. p. 94

Does it cover the undercarriage - track tension, rollers, travel motors?

Yes. The Lower Structure and Chassis section covers the 400 mm track shoes, track tension adjustment, idler and roller replacement, and travel device removal and rebuild. Worth reading before winter, because a track run too tight wears pins and bushings fast, and one run too loose derails on side slopes. The machine is rated for 30 degree gradeability, and the undercarriage only delivers that if it is adjusted to spec.
