Hyster T6.0UT, T6.0UT (A3C7) Common Problems This Manual Covers

Hyster T6.0UT tow tractor, after key switch on, display panel showing a controller fault code

Check the controller fault code on the display (item 10 on page 7) and stop using the truck; page 13 says do not operate the truck with faults. Before checking the electrical system, turn off the key switches and the emergency isolation switches as page 11 requires. Then confirm all connecting points and plugs of the electric system are in good condition. Resume towing only after the malfunction is eliminated.

Manual Section: Controller fault codes p. 7
Battery charge indicator dropping and battery voltage reading 41 V or lower while towing

Check the battery charge indicator against the 48 V rating. Page 14 says that at 41 V or lower you must stop the truck and charge immediately. Turn off the truck, remove the key, open the battery case cover, unplug the battery connector and connect the charger following page 15. Follow the battery and charger manufacturer's instructions. Charge only in a well ventilated area with no open flame, because hydrogen builds up in the battery box.

Manual Section: Battery Use, Charging, and Maintenance p. 15
Electrolyte leaking from the traction battery or spilled on skin during the daily battery check

Clean up leaked electrolyte by neutralizing it with lime or strong carbonic acid, then flush with a large amount of water as page 16 directs. Wash skin contact with plenty of water. Flush eyes with water, then see a specialized doctor. Remove soaked clothes right away, wash them with water, then rinse with a weak basic soap solution. Check electrolyte proportion and level before the next shift following page 13.

Manual Section: Emergency treatment p. 16
Brake fluid leak found or brake pedal not stopping normally during the slow pre-shift drive check

Check for brake fluid leaks during the inspection before operation on page 13. Release the parking brake, drive slowly and step down the brake pedal to confirm the brake system is normal. If anything is abnormal, do not operate the truck with faults. Page 11 says to repair or replace immediately in case of any abnormal condition, so keep the truck off goods towing until it is fixed.

Manual Section: Inspection before operation p. 13
Steering wheel feels abnormal or steer angle indicator not matching wheel direction on startup check

Test steering by releasing the parking brake and turning the steering wheel, as the page 13 inspection lists. Watch the steer angle indicator on the display (page 7); it should show the direction the steer wheel is turned. If steering is not normal, stop and keep the truck out of service. Resume operation only after the malfunction is eliminated, never with a known fault.

Manual Section: Inspection before operation p. 13
Truck tops out near 8 km/h unladen instead of reaching full rated travel speed

Check the performance mode indicator on the display, item 9 on page 7. Factory default is E, capped at 8 km/h; P allows 10.5 km/h and S allows 14.5 km/h. Press the settings button to change modes, then verify the speed setting indicator is not set to a fraction of maximum. Page 9 lists 14.5 km/h unladen and 8 km/h laden.
