What's inside: the full factory service manual for the Link-Belt 350X3 hydraulic excavator, the 80028.2 lb machine built around the Isuzu 6HK1X common rail diesel rated 265.52 HP at 1900 rpm. This is the book the dealer techs work from. It covers teardown and rebuild of the hydraulic pump, control valve and regulator, the travel motor and its variable capacity mechanism, swing unit and brake section, DPD functional inspection on the engine, cab and wiper removal, and bucket, arm and boom procedures with cylinder disassembly steps. Because this is an electronically controlled machine, you also get the numbered Diagnostic Trouble Code tables starting on page 1185, plus fold-out electrical and hydraulic schematics for the whole machine, three oversized sheets in all.

Link-Belt 350X3 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Machine travels weak, crawls in one direction, or the final drive is noisy

Section A covers the travel motor structure and operation, including the variable capacity mechanism that shifts between travel speeds, so you can diagnose whether the fault is the motor, the reduction gearing or the pilot signal. On reassembly, use the listed travel motor and sprocket bolt torques from the same chapter.

Manual Section: A. Lower - Track and Undercarriage p. 25
Swing is weak, drifts on a slope, or won't hold when parked

Swing motors and swing drives are common wear items on machines this size, and many complaints trace to the brake section, not the motor itself. The swing chapter's internal structure diagram, port diagram and operation explanation let you separate a dragging or non-releasing swing brake from actual motor wear before ordering anything.

Manual Section: B and C. Swing Unit and Counterweight p. 169
Slow, weak hydraulics across the board or a suspected main pump failure

Before condemning the pump, work through Section J. It has the assembly and disassembly procedures for the pump main unit, control valve and regulator, plus the 4 stack solenoid valve operation explanation. Verify main relief pressure against the 34.3 MPa (4974 psi) standard first - a tired relief or regulator mimics a dying pump.

Manual Section: J. Hydraulic Equipment - Pump, Operation System and Valves p. 793
Constant DPD regeneration requests, white smoke, or engine derate

The engine chapter includes a functional inspection of the DPD so you can test the system properly instead of forcing regens over and over. It also covers exhaust manifold inspection and the oil cooler, which matters because exhaust leaks upstream of the filter will keep triggering regen problems no matter how many times you clear the code.

Manual Section: H. Engine p. 207

Frequently Asked Questions

My 350X3 is showing a fault code on the monitor. Does this manual actually explain the codes?

Yes, and this is where the book earns its keep. The DTC troubleshooting tables start on page 1185 and walk each code step by step, with the standard values you should measure at each check point. So instead of guessing at a 7000 series code, you follow the table with a multimeter and land on the actual failed component before you buy parts. p. 1185

Are the torque specs in here? I need travel motor and sprocket numbers.

They are. Travel motor mounting bolts are M24 at 900 - 1051 N-m (663.92 - 775.31 lbf-ft) and drive sprocket bolts are M20 at 521 - 608 N-m (384.34 - 448.51 lbf-ft), both from the Special Torque Settings table on page 1160, which lists the retightening locations by name. That same Section Z page carries the general bolt size and torque table, and the standard torque data chapter covers everything not called out separately. p. 1160

Can I rebuild the main hydraulic pump with this manual?

Section J has the full assembly and disassembly procedures for the pump main unit, the control valve and the regulator, in order, with the checks along the way. Pumps are one of the most commonly replaced parts on this model, so having the teardown steps and the ability to verify main relief at 34.3 MPa (4974 psi) can save you from replacing a pump that only needed a regulator or relief valve. p. 793

Does it cover the DPD and emissions side of the Isuzu engine?

Yes. The engine chapter covers the 6HK1X with its cooled EGR, variable-displacement turbo and DPD system, including a functional inspection of the DPD, exhaust manifold inspection and the oil cooler. If the machine keeps asking for regens or derating, this is the chapter that tells you what to test instead of swapping sensors blind. p. 207

Are the wiring and hydraulic schematics included, or sold separately?

Included. You get two full-machine electrical fold-outs (sheets 40962104-0 EN and 70558949-0 EN, marked 1/2 and 2/2) and the full-machine hydraulic fold-out (sheet 60490162-0 EN). Between those and the DTC tables you can trace any circuit on the machine, which matters on a machine where the monitor, solenoid valves and engine controller all talk to each other. p. 1307
