Covers the Manitou MT 732 and MT 932 telescopics plus the MLT 629, MLT 633 and MLT 730 farm handlers, Série 1 and Série A machines from around 2001. That takes in the standard, Turbo, LS and Powershift variants on Perkins 1004 engines. It runs to more than 1,100 pages across engine, transmission, electrics, axles, brakes, boom and hydraulics.
The figures are printed for each variant, and that matters on the bench. An MT 732 runs 240 bar on the boom circuit, while an MLT 633 LS runs 270. Set a relief valve from a forum guess and you either lose lift or split a hose under load.
It comes as a PDF, so it goes on a phone or tablet. You have it in the cab, the yard or the shed, wherever the machine stopped.

Manitou MT 732/932, MLT 629/633/730 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Engine loses power or stalls when using boom, telescope or bucket
Start in the Hydraulic section with pump type and circuit pressure. Put a gauge on the circuit and compare it with 240 bar for MT 732/932 or 270 bar for MLT 633 LS. If the pressure is right, move to the Engine section and check the air cleaner and fan belt.
Manual Section: Hydraulic / Engine p. 978Parking brake will not hold the machine on a slope
On the MT 732/932, the parking brake is a mechanical hand lever working a disc on the transmission output shaft (page 10). Work through the Brake section's parking brake pages for lever adjustment and disc condition. It is a separate system from the oil-immersed multidisc service brakes, so don't chase the braking circuit first.
Manual Section: Brake p. 880Drive drops out in forward or reverse when working under load
The gear reverser is electro-hydraulic (page 10), so check the supply to the reverser and the earth connections in the Electricity section before splitting anything. After that, go to the Transmission section's torque converter and gear reverser pages. They cover the test and overhaul procedures for the Turner/Sachs box.
Manual Section: Transmission / Electricity p. 440Boom sections clunk, drag or wear unevenly when telescoping
Worn or dry jib pads are the usual cause on high-hour handlers. The Telescopic Boom section covers jib pads and greasing of the jib, along with lifting, telescoping and tilt times. Use those times to tell pad wear from a slow hydraulic circuit before you order parts.
Manual Section: Telescopic Boom p. 922Frequently Asked Questions
What pressure should the boom and attachment circuit be set to on a Manitou MT 732/932 or MLT 629/633/730?
That depends on the variant. MT 732 and MT 932 Série 1 machines run 240 bar on the lifting, tilting, telescoping and attachment circuit, with steering at 140 bar (page 11). MLT 633 Turbo LS, .120 LS and .120 LS Powershift machines run 270 bar (page 49). Confirm your exact model before you touch a relief valve. p. 49
Why does my MT 732 bog down or stall when I extend the boom or crowd the bucket?
The gear pump with flow divider (43,77 cm³, page 11) is driven by the engine. A tired engine or a relief valve set too high shows up first under hydraulic load. The naturally aspirated 1004.42 only makes 283 Nm at 1400 rpm (page 9), so it has little margin. Check circuit pressure against 240 bar first, then the air cleaner and fuel side. p. 11
Which Perkins engine is fitted to my machine?
Non-turbo MT 732, MT 932, MLT 629 and MLT 730 machines carry the 1004.42 AR 81026 (pages 9 and 41). Turbo versions use the 1004.40T AK 80920, and the MLT 633/730 .120 LS models get the 1004.40TW AM 80922. On the MT, the 1004.42 is 4233 cm³ and 56 kW, and the 1004.40T is 3990 cm³ and 73 kW. p. 41
Does the manual give a torque figure for the wheel nuts?
No. The book lists wheel nut tightening as a 200-hour service item but prints no torque value. Get the figure from a Manitou dealer against your serial number rather than guessing on a machine carrying loads at height. Tyre pressures are printed, for example 3,4 bar on the standard MT 732 Dunlop tyre (page 11).
How much oil do the engine and hydraulic tank take?
Engine oil is 7,75 litres on MLT 629/730 standard, Turbo, Turbo LS and Turbo Powershift machines, and 8,3 litres on the .120 LS versions (page 70). The MT 732 / MT 932 hydraulic tank holds 125 litres (page 20). Knowing that saves buying a second drum you don't need, or running short halfway through a change. p. 70
