New Holland Boomer 45, Boomer 50, Boomer 55 Common Problems This Manual Covers
HST erratic operation
The HST troubleshooting table lists low charge pressure as the cause, and the fix is to check the charge relief valve. Use the pressure testing procedure in the Hydrostatic Drive chapter to confirm low charge pressure before you take anything apart. Then inspect the charge relief valve. The same chapter covers the pump and motor components, so the valve check comes first in the printed sequence.
Manual Section: Hydrostatic transmission - Troubleshooting For the Hydrostatic Transmission (HST) unit p. 618HST abnormal noise
The HST troubleshooting table lists a clogged suction strainer as the cause, and the fix is to clean the strainer. The Hydrostatic Drive chapter covers the reservoir, cooler and lines, so you can locate the strainer and get to it without guessing. After cleaning, refill to the specified 43.0 L (11.4 US gal) capacity, which includes the hydraulics.
Manual Section: Hydrostatic transmission - Troubleshooting For the Hydrostatic Transmission (HST) unit p. 618Relief valve operates when the implement is in the full raise position
According to the Hydraulic systems troubleshooting table, the HPL upper stop is out of adjustment, so the hitch keeps pushing against its end of travel. The fix is to adjust the position of the upper stop. The manual's safety relief valve setting is 19609 kPa (2844 psi). The printed remedy is the upper stop adjustment, not a change to the relief valve setting.
Manual Section: Hydraulic systems - Troubleshooting p. 771Hydraulic fluid overheats during rear three-point hitch work
The rear three-point hitch troubleshooting table lists a faulty pump as the cause, and the fix is to replace the pump. The Hydraulic Systems chapter covers the fixed displacement pump, and the specs give its capacity as 31.2 L/min (8.2 US gpm) at 2600 RPM. Work through the hitch troubleshooting steps before you order a new pump. Then refill the 43.0 L system with the correct fluid.

Which New Holland Boomer tractors does this service manual cover?
It covers the Boomer 45, Boomer 50 and Boomer 55 Tier 4B (final) compact tractors for North America, in Cab and ROPS versions. This is service manual 48144020, 1st edition English, June 2017. The cover lists a PIN range for each model and version. For example, the Boomer 45 Cab runs from PIN LSM0B45Cxx0010001 to LSM0B45CAH0010031. Read the PIN off your tractor and check it against the cover. p. 1
What engine and power does each Boomer model have?
The Boomer 45 has the L3C19-T3 engine at 33 kW (45 Hp) gross. The Boomer 50 has the L3C19-T2 at 37 kW (50 Hp). The Boomer 55 has the L3C19-T1 at 41 kW (56 Hp). All three are three-cylinder common rail diesels with a displacement of 1879 cm³ (114.7 in³). The engine code for your model is the one to quote when you order engine parts. p. 50
What are the fuel, engine oil and transmission fluid capacities for the New Holland Boomer 45, Boomer 50, Boomer 55?
The fuel tank holds 47 L (12 US gal). Engine oil with a filter change takes 5.0 l (5.3 US qt). The rear axle and transmission take 43.0 L (11.4 US gal), and that figure includes the hydraulics. It is the same on mechanical and hydrostatic tractors. The front axle takes 8.0 L (2.1 US gal). Buy enough fluid before you pull the drain plug. p. 50
What engine speed gives 540 RPM at the rear PTO on HST tractors?
On HST tractors, 2409 RPM engine speed gives 540 RPM at the rear PTO. If your tractor has the optional 2000 RPM mid PTO, run the engine at 2563 RPM. p. 53
Does the manual include wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics and fault codes?
Yes. There are electrical schematic sheets with component lists for the cab version (pages 1247-1278) and the ROPS version (pages 1279-1302). Fold-out ROPS and cab schematics are at the back of the book. The Hydraulic systems chapter has schematics for both mechanical and HST transmission tractors. The FAULT CODES chapter gives a procedure for each code, such as s100 F02 (P0522) - Engine oil pressure fault and s110 F03 (P0118) - Coolant sensor high fault. p. 1247
